Dave, is the Cord from San Jose? If it is, he lives near us. Saw him out driving two weeks ago down Curtner.

900 pics? Wow, I was shooting like crazy and I doubt I came close to that even with 2 cameras. It will be awhile for me to select the best of the races and the concours. A Horch won Best of Show.

  16. I get a little carried away...

I'll likely end up with 450-500 usable ones

The 1937 Horch 853 Voll & Ruhrbeck Sport Cabriolet , owned by Robert M. Lee, was named Best of Show

  17. Dave - good meeting you! Between me and Kim we had three cameras going, took probably 600 pics. That Horsch was incredible, but my favorite was the Daimler limo from Wisconsin.

The most amazing thing? The porta-potties. I was in one that was like the sparkling Shangri-La Xanadu Taj Mahal of port-o-sans. I guess what they say is true: the rich, they are different than you and me.

Geeze...I stood next to a guy; next to this car, in Carmel the day of the tour he said this would would be Best In Show.. I thought how 'da you know?

    Attached Files:

  19. Because it was head & shoulders above EVERYTHING on the field

  20. The Daimler was HUGE...we were talking with Bob who restored it, he was the guy in the chauffeur outfit...the V12 has 3 cranks, no valves, 36 connecting rods and NO cams....and weighs 8100lbs!!

He has had cars on the showground for 20 years, 17 customer cars & 3 of his own...he certainly has a good reputation...

Oh yeah...the porta potties are pretty nice huh?

That Horch is amazing. I recently paid a small fortune for a copy of "The Coachwork of Erdmann and Rossi". There is a whole chapter on Horch and there were some pretty spectabular bodies put on the Horch chassis.

The type 51 Grand Prix car with the DeBois body is the nads. I remember the story of how they reunited the original engine with the car. Spectacular.

  30. I'm still working on them...

Not at all...Its $150 in advance, or $175 on the day...Think of it as 2 weekends at the drag races....

    And worth EVERY penny....

You need a better job ;)
