I was wiping down the finish on the Packard at Hershey this year...for the 3rd or 4th time, and a guy nearby says, "You tryin to rub the paint off it?" "No, I'm tryin to turn it into a 12."

I was wiping off my 57 a few years ago and a nice looking older lady came up and started smiling and laughing a bit. She then told me that she went to a drive in about 30 years ago, in a car like this and the next thing she knew was suprise she was pregnant. People always tell me that they had a uncle, grandpa or brother that had one just like it. Another time when I had my Studebaker truck someone asked me if Ford or Chevy made it. I have had a number of people call my 29 a t-bucket, Old cars always seem to bring back memories with the elderly and make them smile.

I have lots of people ask me about my highly modified cars, "Are you going to restore it?"

I put a horrified look on my face and say, "No way!"

They look confused......but then, they dont know the definition of 'restored' either.

I have an O/T red 2010 HHR Panel and I had a dark blue 2007 HHR panel. Someone asked of the panel if I was a mortician specializing in deceased children. I said No, Circus Midgets! I still get the "Did you customize it yourself? Or the "Nice work removing the windows and the rear door handles, when are you going to do the front doors?" Plus they can't grasp the concept it still has four doors.

My friend's wife called mine a "camper car", she thought you could put a camper in the back like full size truck.

John Q. Public can call mine anything they want, especially if the guy that came up to me in front of the resturant last week uses my e- mail address and sends me pictures as promised of the old Lincoln with the V-12 engine his deceased father in law has disassembled in the barn in Kansas that they are going to have to clean out soon. I am always polite and take time to talk, never know what might be in a relatives barn or old garage. I used to restore 65-68 Mustang convertibles, top up no one notices, top down everyone wants to talk. Amazing how many people I met in the early '80s who told me they got layed for the first time in an early Mustang!

Had an encounter at a car show with my 67 Galaxie.
Some old bloke looks under the hood, its the full Cobra dress up gear 428 emblems.

Then asks what kind of engine is it, I reply that its a 428
He then says to me its a nice Pontiac!

Two things you need to know about my car:

I run '64 YOM plates front & back.

It's 4 year old primer is tinted baby blue to match the interior paint.

So guess what two questions I get EVERY time I take it out??

    What year is it?

What colour you gonna paint it?
