Yeah, you have to be poor to be "real", haha what the hell? That's goofy.

Right now I don't care about "original Henry steel", street rod ch***i, face picking **** lookers, or virtual clones of Bob Elston's car. Is someone going to buy this damn thing so Bruce and I can disect the transmission?

"Yeah, you have to be poor to be "real", "

Yeah...a streetrodder would buy this thing for 75,000 and then brag that he paid 150,000 for it because it was the best in the world AND that Boyd charged him another 50,000 to put in the power windows and Toyota interior...

A HAMBer would buy it for 75,000 and then brag that he found it in a barn three miles from his house and charged the widow of the original owner $75 to tow it away. He would then lock his cat in the thing for a week, and swear the interior was original Henry...

    Bruce - Haha--

And yeah Brush, I saw that straightaway too. I didn't want to be the first to start picking on it so I didn't say it. But after the transmission questions I wonder what's up.

There is a shot underneath that shows where the radius rods connect to the tube and you can make out a splice, or the start of a taper or something in the right side of the pic. My stash of Deuce parts is limited to a frame and a commercial grille - can anyone see if the distance between that element and the radius rods is stock, or has the tube been shortened in front of those radius rods?

Maybe that could help decide if there is something added to the back of the trans. or of the ebay lister (owner?) has some gross misinformation.

...hey Randy...Bruce Burroughs called me last night to tell me about this car and he said the owner was lookin' to get $100K for it...and Kevin, if I'm not mistaken, all '32s had that look in the rear wheel area, I think so that when you had p***engers in the rumble seat, the rear would come down and the wheel would be centered...IMHO...

all 32 p***enger cars came with black fenders.
--------- i like that car too. id put on a dropped headlight bar, lower the front ever so slightly, with a tad shorter front whiteys, loose the spare tire, add dual exhaust, & cover it with suttle pinstriping. thats what id do if i owned it.

Deuce roadster - your car is coming along gooooooooood! looks real goooooood!!!

Good looking car. Hope the guy gets what he is looking for out of it. Deuce Roadster: build your car how you like it. Thats what makes it yours. Dont listen to anyone telling how they would do it. I know I've had folks try to tell me what they would do to mine if it was theirs. Thats what my dad wanted when he built them so thats the way they are. BTW Happy Birthday!Jim Poindexter

From what I've seen when you lower a 32-3 wd or 5wd and keep the torque tube the same length, the tire sets in that position. I lowered my 5-wd and it did that just like that 3-wd. I've been trying to figure out how to correct it without going off the deep end.--TV

It is a SAD fact that the parts and pieces we have wanted and need....have gone STUPID money. It is somewhat like the Harley thing....the same folks who looked down their noses at us years ago.....want to join the party and have run the prices skyhigh. Racing is the same deal.....MONEY....back when we raced........you could run out of the junk yard and built your own motors, hung the bodies.....and done about everything but the machine shop work.....NOW it is bought motors, ch***is and the like....enclosed haulers...

I feel sorry for the younger guys.......because of the $$$.....they never saw old 30's and 40's Fords lying in the backyards......and run at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. I am glad that I have the two cars I want the most....at last......and hope to drive both of them for many more years....cause I cannot afford to buy anymore of the stuff I like....

I wouldn't call you stupid, Klaz, I'd call you someone more into '60s style than '40s. The auction car could be considered a resto rod, I suppose, though the term usually brings to mind white letter radials and non-Ford wire wheels, rather than '35 Ford spokers and bias plies.

I think '40s style coupes look "funny" to most of us because we're used to seeing fenderless roadsters (ie; serious race cars) in the old pictures of the lakes. Coupes, it would seem, didn't really hit their stride until the middle 1950s.

OK, computers on! It's 52 minutes til the truth on this thing!
It's in nice shape--shame it's a closed car...but anyhow, a neat '32 will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no '32...

  24. Center the rear wheels for God's sake, that looks horrible.
