Thanks for all the replies, it's all good stuff. My back story is that at 12 year old, I found an A coupe in the local newspaper for $350.(Bridgeport, Ct.) This was 1962. I twisted my Dad's arm to buy it. But according to him, it had to be a straight restoration, period to the last detail. Well that wasn't my plan. I saw guys in the "shop classes" at High School with hot rods. But he didn't want me hangin' with those guys as he thought they would be a bad influence on me. So restored it was. I was still happy to work on it with him and drive it when it was done. Learned how to drive on it too. Double clutch and all. One day I drove it to High School and when I pulled into the driveway, a couple of guys in a hot rod A coupe had followed me home. I jumped out eager to meet them and one of them asked me "what you got in it" and I said it was stock. He let out a disgusted moan, waved me away and got in the coupe and sped off. Every since that day I wanted a hot rod coupe. Fast forward to 31/2 years ago my Dad died at age 98! Well my sisters and I inherited his estate and let's just say there was enough for that coupe I wanted all those years ago. So I want to build just as I would have back then, early sixties vibe. As close as possible. That's why I started the thread, so thanks for the responses everyone. Dino
Cool story. Too bad the guy in the coupe was such a jerk haha. I guess today though it's cool to see a stocker let alone a rod. I too love early 60's cars, before the show circuit really went wild and people started building some wonky stuff.
