I'm restoring my 1951 Chevy Truck and came across this filter when disassembling. The unit was mounted low on the firewall and the top of it reads "Perry Cooling System Filter."

I've never seen one of these and it was not connected to anything. When searching online i dont see any with the glass bottom that this one has. The glass is also stamped "Pyrex" like the cookware. There's also a strange bag inside the top chamber of the filter as well.

I want to know if this is a factory item or is it an accessory? What is it for? What does it connect to? Is it worth anything? I need help from the pros on this forum. I appreciate it.

Perry filters are basicly water conditioners, the bag had the conditioner in it and some had a degradable plate that was put in on top of the bag, I forget what the change ratio was, but in later years a spin on filter replaced that set up and generally we change them at an oil change, I've not seen one on smaller vehicles but over the road trucks they were common.
