I have a 1946 flathead with pertronix ignition and coil.
My coil started leaking so I changed it for a new one.
since then my ignition switch off randomly, when idling or driving.
it looks like it loose electric power and engine switch off, I get in neutral and restart straight away...
I never had the problem before, and only replace the coil for the same ref.
    any advice???

  2. put in a relay to power the coil

I had that problem with a '65 Biscayne. Turns out the resistor wire for the ignition was bad.

oh boy, an intermittent electrical issue. Those are fun!

I've had issues with the Ignitor kit before, which version are you running?

On a somewhat related topic, a friend of mine bought Mallory's E-spark. Installed it and could not get it to run immediately after installation. I went to take a peek and ended up getting a jolt from his coil. The distributor was arcing out through the coil to the engine block. In the end it turns out his E-spark kit bound on something in his stock distributor and blew it to pieces causing the bare wires to do all kind of funky shit. Destroyed his distributor in the process.

I guess the point I'm trying to get across is I very well could be the petronix Ignitor kit.
