Hi all, Has anyone installed a Pertronix Ignitor III in a Cardone (30-2808) distributor? If so, what model Ignitor is it?

Do they make a Pertronix III for a y-block? The only listings I found was #1281, the plain 'ol Ignitior, and #91281, the Ignitor II. FWIW I installed a 1281; it was a piece of cake.

    Thanks for the reply.
I was in contact with someone there and he said the 71281 was the Ignitor III for the Ford. But it didn't fit the Cardone distributor. Now the suggestion is the Ignitor II #91281 so I'm exchanging the parts I have for that one. I hope its a piece of cake to put in for the mechanically challenged! :)

I think the 71281 is for the small block dizzy, 260, 289 etc. I ran into the same problem when I ordered one off Amazon. You pretty much have to have the distributor number off the housing, the application guide by auto manufacturer isn't real clear. As far as installation goes, the instructions are clear enough. You shouldn't even have to remove any plug wires from the cap.

I might add that Cardone is a remanufacturer; they didn't actually make the distributor, so that part number wouldn't be found in the Pertronix application guide.
