Got a unit for an o/t car that ran a 6 cylinder engine; are replacement magnet rotors available for changing to 4 or 8 cylinder? Dang thing wasn't cheap but I don't have anything 6 cylinder to use it on.

  2. You can get the information from the Pertronix tech guys....call them. I believe it is a Hall Effect unit.

They should sell just the magnet itself, if that's what you are asking. I bet they are pretty proud of them though.

Why did you buy "Dang thing wasn't cheap" if you had no use for it, as it was intended?

The Pertronix is triggered by a series of magnets which are placed by there north or south pole relationship. So there's six magnets now for what you have you now need a ring with 8 magnets. While is sounds simple its a bit involved each magnet ring is made to fit the individual lobe area of the distributer. This means the magnet ring used for the 8 cylinder will only fit on the 8 cylinder lobe area. The other issue you run into is there's no standard 8 lobe area in distributers each brand is a different dimension. I doubt there's anything Pertronix can help you with but give them a call to find out.
