After 40 + years of building hot rod chassis for customers all over the USA and a few for myself it was kool to head down to P&J's to pick up a chassis they had built for me. They accommodated everything I wanted and I ended up with a one of a kind 32 chassis. Jason and Colton went out of their way to take care of me. The cherry on top was an all stainless custom exhaust built by Jack Dean at J&M Custom Exhaust just around the corner from P&J's shop. Great ending for my last build. Special thanks to all the guys at P&J's. Krylon32/Gary at Cornhusker Rod & Custom
I used all of their parts , brackets , etc., when I built my 32 years ago . Recently I purchased new bushings . Just outstanding people to deal with .
I tried to sneak a peak at it the last time I was down but it was getting the exhaust done. I was still tempted to go to the exhaust shop and look lol
Pictures???? It's still in a pile in my shop. Working on getting a different roadster assembled for sale.
Krylon Aint no 'tourist' I am always awed to have contributions from Krylon's experience. I would guess that handling the challenges of engineering a chassis, and the letting it loose to another party, carries a need of respect for,- and to,- the process.
Gary Just fun'n with ya but we are praying that a nice young couple with a six year old will move in next to you so we can see PICTURES of all your cars. With you having such a close relationship with Pete and Jakes, I know how it feels to be able to turn a dream into reality as in this day and age there aren't a lot of shop owners that are willing to stray from their "formula" of how a car should be built. Looking forward to seeing that pile of parts turn into a hot rod.
I built that relationship by being a loyal customer since the beginning in CA. Cornhusker produced over 1500 chassis and I don't think there was one that didn't have some P&J's components used in the construction. Didn't stray as I always tried to use the best and consistent parts available.
Gary, that's a great looking chassis. Nice they made your vision come to life. Also having made 1500 chassis, a significant accomplishment, guess you know what you want by now. Can't wait to see what you make with it. And it's wicked cool you have a helper to post pictures. You have a bunch of cool stuff to show off.
Parallel leaf rear? What's going on with the spring mounts? Am I seeing upper and lower for height adjustments? Sorry. I'm not super familiar with P&J stuff.
Hitch Hiker. The mounts you see are the front end of a parallel 4 bar setup. Their hooked to a buggy spring 9 inch rear. I have the same setup under my deuce 3 window and it works great. This is not P&J's standard deal. The chassis is going under a Brookville roadster body that has had the passenger compartment moved back 2.25 inches and the door stretched the same. Will be full fendered. Replicating as much as possible a roadster I built in 1979. Will be Wheatland Yellow with Black Bop Top.
Same rear suspension I have except I used the long triangular bars attached in the center . Reversed the eye on the buggy spring
