I'm coming through Philly this weekend and looking for a safe place to park a suburban and trailer for the day - probably 10-12 hours. Any ideas?
Are you planning on leaving your truck and trailer in the city? I live 35 minutes north of Philly just off of 95, plenty of parking in the area that that would be safer that in the city.
Ideally I'd like to park it in the morning and hop a bus into the city to spend the day. Woman and kids want to shop and sightsee. After dinner we'll get back on the road headed towards Maine. Nothing like an East Coast road trip! What's your zip code? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I'd park in center city in a lot. It'll cost ya 20-30 bucks but it'll be right where you are if ya wanna go back to get something. And ya won't have to waste time on public transit. But that's just me -Pat
Park in Narberth (about 20 min northwest of the city) and take the R5 train into Philly- I grew up in Narberth, and it's still a nice, safe, (fairly) quiet community
I would definitely not recommend driving your suburban with trailer into center city Philly.....way too congested, rude drivers, and questionable safety. Parking in Narberth isn't a bad idea. Another good suburb where you could find street parking would be Media, which is safe, not too far out of the way, and has good public transportation via train and trolly (about 40 minutes into Philly). If it was me, I would consider jumping off I95 near the airport and park at the Simeone Auto Museum, which is worth the trip itself. http://simeonemuseum.org/ They have a large fenced-in lot where you could probably leave your vehicles safely while you visit the museum while your family took public transp. and went site-seeing . Another possibility is the large Wall Mart parking lot on Columbus Blvd. in South Philly, which should be relatively safe, and is close to some good Philly cheese steak joints.
A bunch of great suggestions period! Thanks for the help fellas. I'm hoping the auto museum works out, it'll give me something to do besides tote around bags of clothing. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
My shop is about 30 miles west of Philly and walking distance from the train station. Your more than welcome to park here if needed.
I'm in 19047 so that would be back tracking for you to get back into the city. Loads of good suggestions above, you cant beat jkeesey's offer to park at his place. Don't forget to visit the Mutter museum, the kids will love it. http://muttermuseum.org/
The Simeone is definitely worth going to, and you might even be able to drop the trailer in the parking lot (Dr. Simeone is a very down-to-earth car guy)?
