    Hey gang,

A couple of years ago, H.A.M.B.er Nick Flores reasoned that while Thanksgiving day is for family, our hot rod crew in this city is ALSO our family! I happen to think the same! So the Phoenix Thanksgiving Morning Cruise was born!!! It's also become one of the runs that many of us look forward to every year. Before you spend the day hanging out with family that you HAVE to love, why not spend some time hanging out and being thankful with the family you choose?

The last couple of years have seen us take the winding old roads to the top of South Mountain, but the heavy rains back a couple months ago have washed out those roads to anything but serious four wheel drives.

This year, we are going to meet at Wesley Bolin Plaza in front of the Capital at 16th Ave between Washington and Jefferson, (come in from the Washington side) at about 7:00am, and plan to pull out at about 8:00am. We'll go the opposite way this time and end up at North Mountain Park, and take different high point vantage of our beautiful city! God I love this place!!!

So, why don't you put on some cold weather gear, grab a thermos of coffee and maybe some donuts, and take a ride with us on Thursday? You'll be all done and ready to hang out with the family ya gotta love by about 11:00 or so...

If you have any questions, call me at 602 881 0175

    See ya there, Chip

Oh yes, they will be shot! I gave the camera to the incredible Miss Judy the first year, and all I got was pictures of the dogs in the back of the wagon and the sun visors.... Last year it looked a little like this... SAM_4617.JPG SAM_4624.JPG SAM_4640.JPG SAM_4686.JPG SAM_4688.JPG SAM_4633.JPG

Oh ya, Just so you guts know, I always bring up the rear and stop for the stragglers if there is a problem. That's why it looks like we were flying solo for most of this.

For those of you that aren't familiar with Phoenix, all of the stuff you see is within about an 11 or 12 mile radius, and we have never left the fifth largest city in the nation, so this isn't an all day deal. This year's venue will be different, but it's all about the cruise... And family - our hot rod family, the family we chose! SAM_4644.JPG SAM_4694.JPG SAM_4690.JPG

And, from the above posted photo, where is Scorpion Gulch?

  14. New years cruise is in the works which may become an all day event, but now we will take one cruise at a time and post a thread separate later.

Scorpion Gulch is at the entrance to the South Mountain park.

Absatively! That's GasserSteve's deal, but it looks like we are going to our old territorial capital of Prescott for that this year. Good times will be had be all! Many pictures will be posted, too. I'll probably have an open seat in the 'Bucket for that one, so if anybody wants to get out of the snow and tag along with me, you are welcome!!!

  17. Two nights ago our friend, Robert Hernandez was hit by a car on his chopper. He is in intensive care at this time in a medically induced coma. He is woken up every 4 hours to test his reactions, but his head injuries are pretty severe.

At today's Thanksgiving cruise there will be a donation box for him and his family to help with medical costs and to assist with his recovery. If anyone attending is able to donate, please do so. If you are unable to donate today or you can't make it to the cruise, there has been an online site where donations are accepted. You can do so by going to GoFundMe.com/hue2bo

Robert owns and operates a motorcycle repair business specializing and focusing in early Harley Davidson motorcycles. He is a very talented individual and a good down to earth guy. Please keep Robert and his family in your thoughts this holiday. And be sure to always watch for motorcycles. Thank you.

    Well NOW...

If you went to meet up with us this morning and couldn't get to the meeting spot, my VERY fervent apologies. I knew nothing of the "fun run" leaving from the Wesley Bolin Plaza this morning. We tried calling everybody we had contact numbers for in that pre 8:00am hour when we realized we were partially screwed. Being on the main parade and marathon route at home, and use to being told I can't leave my home or neighborhood, imagine my surprise and happiness to see these street clogging huffing and puffing health freaks at our start point.... VERY SORRY!

The good news though is that we managed to get about twenty cars together at a restaurant parking lot about 3 blocks away, and after a somewhat complicated route, had a damn nice time! I took a bunch of pictures, and I will load them this evening when I get back in from all of the Turkey Day festivities...

Great run this morning. Had a great time.

The weather was so nice today (mid 80's) that I wanted more. So I decided to hop back in the battle bird and head out toward Seven Springs and Bartlett Lake. Beautiful day for a drive through the desert mountains in an open car.

I like that idea, I think we need a lot more we are going to meet somewhere and go somewhere interesting road trip type events rather than the sit on your butt in the lawn chair behind the car and walk around and look at the same cars events. Not that I don't like those too but It's a lot more fun to drive your hot rods or customs than sit behind them in a lawn chair.
