Hey Rik ,How ya sneak those two North jersey cars in there? What was that some kind of accident. Both of them can be seen in my contributions section on your site in different photos. The merc was done by Monaco Auto body and the owner was a member of the Drivin Deuces. The Chevy is one that was always a mystery to me but I have a front shot on your site.
Thank Rik!I only had a front shot.lol .Only now can I assume that the guy was in the Drivin Deuces and find out who he was when I talk to Tommy Lee.I never relly cared before because for some reason the front always reminded me of a Henry J in that shot.
Oh yes. You and me are together on this. The guys with air bags don't know the thrill of driving a real lowered car on the highway at speed and seeing that pot hole or whoop-tee-doo coming up and having your ass hole pucker up like it's trying to grab the seat you're sitting on.
Life did a feature on Ed Roth in 1965. I just tried to search the site with no luck. I remember he was on top of a junkyard pile in one photo. Bullet Nose, that's just a great '57 high school car (both versions).
Im not one to make threats over the computer but if this damn thread doesnt pick up by tommorow morning, I have six photos from Brooklyn, Baltimore and Hartford Connecticut that I swear Ill post. The shits so stereotypically "east coast" that I might just get banned from the site. Dont make me do it. Im talking ......The Vik Zaikane 56 Merc with 4 60 Chrysler taillights on each side! This guy made Frank Maratta look like Fagnoni et Felachi.
Anthony, I was just looking at one in Custom Cars 1960 Annual called Quad Wierdie, 55 merc had 4 headlights and 4 finned taillights. Was owned by Paul Semenick, is that the one you are reffering to? BB
Bob , I have pictures of some ugly shit but out of respect for Ryan and the other 65000 members, SCRATCH THAT!!!......Out of respect for myself, I wouldnt even own a picture of Seminecks car.
Now the "bad" reputation of these cars have been built up so much,.....I think I need to see them.........Kinda like the Tijuana donkey show...
Please, no. Out of respect for Rikster. This thread's remained relatively pure, with a coupla exceptions.
I've been keeping up with this thread, and it's stuff like this that makes the HAMB great! Thanks for posting pictures from 'the day'...it keeps me dreaming of mine getting done...(although it'll be non-trad under the sheets...). Thanks, Steve
The Victorian. This car is one of a few reasons why my car is in the process of getting '55 Olds headlights stuck on.
First, Rikster, you show a pic of a light blue 51? chevy with what looks like corvette tail lights (rear section) on the top of the rear fenders (taken from an indoor car), do you have any other pictures of that car? For the group, there was a picture of a black 40 sedan that looks like the rear bumper was tucked closer. what else was done to the back of the car.. it looks so smooth and flows so nice, but I can not pick out the customer touches
No I dont have any more photos of that 51 Chevy. But somehow it looks familiar. It might have been in one of the magazines back then. I will have a look when I have a browse session again. As for the 40 Ford... The 47 Ford bumper is closer to the body as you mentioned. ANd there is a new molded in splash pan to blend it all in. That together with the molded in fenders make it look like it was shaped out of warm butter. The License plate guard is from a 1949 Chevy. Taillights look to be small motor cycle units that where very popular in the late 40's.
