Now that has the makings of a Westergard car. I only say this because I know he used this grille on another build.
Yeah, Anthony stop laughing at us and tell us what and where it is, and how you found it. Do we have to say please? lol
Oh hell I dont know! I just had the thing e mailed to me from NY. The hood looks like a 47 Frazer, dont it? Then again the thing sucks!
just wait a half hour, rikster will have all the info on who built it, when, where, current owner and build pics. that friggin guy is amazing!!!
You got that right. I just called the guy who sent it to me but its in some junk yard in Colrado Springs.
Does anyone ever notice all the model cars piled up on Barris's office desk? I heard he carved them out of wood as thre plastic ones werent around yet. I wonder what happened to all of them?
My buddy Vic used to do a lot of "custom" models. He learned how to do resin casting and used to duplicate some of them. Of course being a Kustom fanatic, he did a lot of Barris cars,Like Sam's Chevy, Larry Earnst's, Kopper Kart, and others. Barris was interested in them and wanted to get in on the deal, so he offered to sell the kits on his website for Vic. Sad to say, he wanted a big chunk of it, but Vic really never got any sales volume out of his endeavors, anyway. George has always been into "models" in one way or the other (LOL). Think "merchandising".
Sorry! Being the lecherous wolf that I am, my eyes went directly to the 2 pin-up calendars. Va-Va-Va-Voom!
A few more very mild customs from the 40's and 50's. I came across these in some online photo albums while searching for other things. Most of these are sort of wannabe customs.. with some having nothing more than custom hubcaps. But still nice to see how a lot of the cars ran back then. Not all had the money to convert their cars into full customs... Note the very low door mounted Appleton Spots, and Caddy fish tail rear fender extention... Buick grille teeth in 1950 Mercury....
ant your right on both les cove cars the one jimmy did was started in calf. And finsih at highland auto body when jimmy was in irvington nj on highland ter. And yes it had a real carson top
My buddy used to own T&T Productions and did resin models with Barris like the Ala Kart,Hirohata and Batmobile.Due to lack of profits he sold out to an artist friend who was working with Roth and then his widow but he seems to have disapeared.Anyone know Jerry Pitre?
So... lets see if we can bring this one back to live again... There must be loads of old custom car photos out there.... Found this one on the Dick Craft website Very nice old photo of his 1938 Ford custom with chopped padded top, ripple disk flipper hubcaps and 37 DeSoto bumpers... Dennis Gomes 1948 Mercury Photo taken in 1957, by Dennis... From ebay...

Here are some of the most recent pictures in my collection. Does anyone recognize the car? I would love to know more about the car or the Windy City Winders Car Club of Illinois. I believe the pictures are taken in 1956:
Don't know anything about this club except that somewhere along the line, they had a different plaque .....

surprised to see the amount of older 4 door mild customs on this thread. was always led to believe nobody built 4 doors "back in the day"
