This post is more about old photos of custom cars... rather than showing your recently built custom cars. Although the cars shown here are nice, there are other post here on the Hamb for that.
Lets keep this post reserved for the old photos... lets say from the 80's and older. The stuff that you can drool over and wish you could have been there. Or perhaps you where there and it brings back those wonderful memories...

Here is an oldy. 1947, base ball player with his mildy customized 39 Ford. Slightly lowered, Skirts, Appleton spots, and Single bar ripple disk flippers... A perfect sample of how a lot of people customized their own daily driver.

Does anyone have any photos of the Don Tognotti "Green Voodoo" 56 Ford Thundebird custom?
I am looking particularly for color shots but would love to see any.

Just as a matter of interest, My Brother was in the army, and in 1956 bought a new Ford in North Carolina. He was then transfered to Hawaii, and drove accross the US to San Diego where he shipped his new car to Hawaii. on the way thru the desert he got hit with a sand-storm so when he reached Hawaii, he had the car painted.
There the Japanese craftsmen painted the car by hand brushing and rubbing Lacquer
in numerous coats. The result was an amazing paint job, close to being as good as anything today.

Rik, 1st off, WOW. Bill-twochops OH BROTHER. Thanks you guys BIG TIME. There should be a test after all these history lessons. Regarding, Frank Kurtis. How does he fit in with all this KUSTOM work? I just picked up a book, (Kurtis-Kraft: Masterworks of Speed and Style by Gordon White), which is a great book by the way. There is a shot of one of his cars with custom white cloth top, swooped back, I was very surprised. Have a good one you guys. Its Friday in Jersey! Slim

    I stand corrected.

I didn't remember any 57 cars having quad headlights. Were there any others?

Thank you Rikster for posting the two photos of the Green Voodoo. I have seen these pictures previously. I was hoping someone may have pictures of the Green Voodoo , particularly color shots of the car in it's final format when it was selected for Car Craft's TOP TEN in Feb 1961.
I am eager to find any photos of the Green Voodoo and any history of past owners between 1961 through to the mid 1990's.

    Thanks, Mike

Perhaps you have more luck if you open a new post for the Tognotto T-Bird.

Here is another old photo. 1937 Ford Convertible, or Phaeton with chopped windshield and possible Padded top. 17 DeSoto bumpers, Sealed beam aftermarket headlights, and barely visible a set of Ripple Disk singe bar flipper hubcaps on black wall tires.
Perhaps a last photo of the sailor/owner with his car before he was drafted for WWII?

I came across a photo album of Nitro-Marty, and besides having some great Black and White photo from his father, he also has some great photos form Custom car shows in from the 80's and early 90's...
These sure bring back some great memories to me.

All photos from the Nitro Marty Collection.

Hey Rik, have any more of the green '57 Ford in the pic of the Donny Lowe shoebox? I'm sure you probably would've posted it, but its worth a shot.
