Thanks for sharing. The casket is really fitting.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but the Marilyn impersonator showing her wares and the pic of everyone running their smart phones at a funeral seems tacky and disrespectful.

i kiinda agree with you on that point but would like to remember george for he was a nice guy who built and shaped the kustom and rod world so much would like to keep you as a momentum if it was me i would be bringing my camera to the funeral in the pictures there were some photographers there taking pictures of the whole thing.if it was a regular funeral i would not bring my camera to show respect and kindness to the family.

My thoughts too, but we live in a different world now. I have always thought pictures at a funeral were a bit morbid, and people putting a funeral on video were just too much.

Remember the man for who he was, and what he did. We all have the same end awaiting us in the future.

I think the pallbearers wearing Barris car club style jackets is way better than tuxes would have been.
And just the way George would have wanted it.

Sometimes we can not be there in person to pay our respects im sure my moments of silence will be heard. I had the opportunity to shake his hand in person at the world of wheels. It was an honor and a very memorable thrill, he was more than I had imagined as a kid building model cars . Inspirations like him are rare. My thoughts and prayers and thanks to George Barris for being my hero. Baron Von Vasnic

  13. The only pictures or video should have been of the procession, which was a fitting send off with the amount of rides that I saw in the video. All the photos of D'Agostino taking selfies with the open casket and fellow attendees is in my opinion extremely disrespectful. It feels like he's just drawing attention to himself and away from the funeral. I always thought he was an attention whore and this just confirms it for me. Also, no one seems to know how to dress for a funeral either, t-shirts and jeans? Hats?! Tits on parade?! I don't get dressed up nice often, but god damn I do clean up for something like a funeral to show respect for the ones grieving.

I appreciate all the pictures...George Barris was a legend that so many of us grew up with...to me, it was a fitting funeral, selfies and all....thanks for taking the time to post. (I only wish that the other half of the Barris Brothers, Sam, could have the same kind of funeral, he deserved it as well)...

  18. I mean no disrespect but George was a showman and I think he would of loved every bit of the funeral....

Thanks for sharing! I'm only 33, but I hope when my day comes. I can say that I lived my life to the fullest, until the very end, just as George clearly did.

Not to sound repetitive, but without these pictures, we couldn't have shared in the tribute of George Barris! Thank You for everyone's time and energy to share with us! I never meant him, but like most of us here, followed him through his career. RIP George! You are missed!

George, if there hadn't been a YOU, there wouldn't have been SO MUCH. Thanks for everything, and Godspeed.

Thank you. Yeah, Galpin is a huge Ford dealership and they have a performance shop- Galpin Auto Sports (or "GAS") Of course, they cater to the paying customers so they'll make whatever you pay them to do. They had some of their showroom vehicles off at the LA auto show allowing room for this, and part of their display is a huge Ed Roth collection, as well as various Shelby products, and other misc cars. I was also fortunate to have one of their employees show me their shop area which was recently expanded and here are a few pics I took. Not all traditional rods, of course, but a huge shop nonetheless. They have 3 or 4 paint booths, as well as a clean room for vinyl wrap application. gas1.jpg gas2.jpg gas3.jpg gas4.jpg

  27. While I can appreciate a lot of the photos, I think his funeral was turned into a circus by many of the attendees. Society has lost a lot of decorum in the last few years. Looks like a lot of people just attended to show themselves off instead of show respect.
    My 2¢.

I agree 100%. a total lack of respect. this thread is right up there with some of the tackiest crap I have ever seen. everyone with their damned cameras out at a funeral should be ashamed of themselves. I don't care who's funeral it was. this is just more proof that all people care about is themselves.... sad

I have to agree. It's nice to see what took place for those who weren't able to attended, but it appears to be more of a social event (it was the MUST attend funeral of the year), and something people will brag about being at, rather than being the respectful send off it should have been. How long until programs and one of those "classy" jackets show up on eBay!?!? Maybe a spectacle of a funeral is the way George would have wanted it though.....
