Photobucket now screwed up!!!!!!!

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by Drewski, Feb 7, 2013.

  1. Re-enabled Java in IE8 but it seems to make no difference. Enabled or disabled, when trying to make a specific edit I get a warning asking if I want to continue running a script. Running the script causes IE to hang. Not running it won't allow the edit to be applied, at least not any time soon. :(

Anyone else using IE8 or IE9 with the same or better results? Maybe it's time for me to upgrade but I don't usually upgrade browsers just because they're "new & improved".

What browsers are you using? This might help PB sort out some of these issues if they ever check back on us here. :D

  2. The infinite scrolling to locate a pic is what wrecked it for me. What used to take a few seconds can now take ten minutes. By the time I find the pic I'm looking for I'm ready to throw the computer out the window. Thank's Photobucket. Anyone know a quicker way? Am I missing something?

I switched to image shack a few weeks ago. It's free too .

  4. I don't use fartbook and I am able to use the new format on photobucket,,but I hate the time it takes to scroll through the photos and sometimes I forget what I was looking for,,it really waste time it sue hasn't sped up anything. HRP

  5. I am forced to remain on Photobucket due to the volume of pics I have stored there, If I switch it will destroy every thread I have on the H.A.M.B and Garage Journal. I have many build threads, tech threads, trip threads, picture threads etc that I want to stay in the H.A.M.B. archives.
I thought Photobucket was a picture storage site so customers can store, retrieve and use images on the internet. I hope they can fix it but I doubt it. I have lost faith in them because if they don't care about the retrieve part then they just don't care about their customers. They asked for suggestions etc while going through the transition but never fixed the slow scrolling that has wrecked it for people who go in to retrieve pics all the time.
From what I have seen they are losing customers by the thousands right now. If they would just leave the option to use the old Photobucket in place It would be fine with me but that just expired.

  6. Well I did get to speak with Kate Hare their chief product officer briefly, she mentioned that they may be killing the scrolling feature as everyone hates it (me included)
That said I was waiting for a call back from their product director so I could go into details on the issues mentioned in this thread and ones I have....
    I'm still waiting!

It's irritating me as well.. I have pictures from the Texas Thaw that I've been trying to upload so I can post them up here.

    No luck so far.

Edit: It might have just been my internet browser (Safari). Just downloaded Mozilla Firefox and tried loading on there and it's uploading everything right now. If you see my thread on the Texas Thaw, then that means it worked..

  8. Thanks for the update. I'm sure some of the issues are on PB's end. But the browser you're using can make a difference too. As I mentioned a few posts back it's working pretty smoothly for me with Firefox. Anybody getting better or worse results with Google Chrome?

Add me to the I hate the new Photobucket list. The giant scroll thing freaked out my computer for 15 minutes. If they want me to join Facebook to fix their problem, then fuck them.

  10. I don't know that Photobucket much cares whether you have a Facebook or Twitter account. I have neither. But if you do, it mainly just gives you another option for logging on to Photobucket. I'm guessing that it may also make it easier to link photos hosted on Photobucket to your Facebook or Twitter accounts. But I doubt that it makes Photobucket run any differently.

If you feel more comfortable hosting your pics somewhere else, then do so by all means. But consider leaving your Photobucket account intact. Deleting your pictures there will probably mean that all the pics hosted there will no longer show up on the HAMB or any other site you've linked them to.

Rather than re-uploading or tranferring all your images to a new hosting service (and having to fix all the broken IMG links) you might try the following on Photobucket.

*The infinite scrolling can be a pain but it might help if you change the way you organize your images. Don't just upload everything into the "Library" or just one huge "Album". Create new albums and name them for their intended use. For pics to be posted here name them something like "HAMB_05" or "HAMB_06".
Don't put too many images in one "Album". I try to limit it to no more than 40 or 50 pics in each. That way you won't have to do so much scrolling.

*Downsize your photos before uploading. They really don't generally need to be more than 800 pixel wide to display in the forums. They'll upload faster and the forum pages will load faster when you open them. The image below is 800 pixels wide.

*Try a different web browser. I usually use IE8 and like the way it works for the most part. But it currently does not play well with Photobucket. Download Firefox or Google Chrome and give them a try. I've not used Chrome myself but Photobucket works much, much better in Firefox for me.

I usually use IE8 for the HAMB and if I need to link photos to the forums I just open Firefox in a second window. Then I log on to Photobucket there, copy the links I need and paste them into the forums here in IE8. There's no issues with having two different browsers open at the same time.

  11. Reminds me of the update Star Boulevard did back about 8 years ago when we lost all our photos.

I liked the old Photobucket version better but for some reason they changed everything to satisfy the Fartbook users,,it's a shame they pushed the change on every user,,for several months they offered both versions. HRP

  12. Got an email from them saying they are doing away with the scrolling and going back to the numbered pages. That is very good news for me.

Kev........did they give any indication as to "When" they were going to do away with the infinite scrolling? For me that is one of the most aggravating features that they came up with. It appears they have corrected the upload sizing change.

You get what you pay for.
Oh, you pay nothing for Pissbucket?
Get yourself a website, shouldn't cost more than $120 per year for the domain name and the hosting.
You can create quite a few internet pages if you learn a little HTML. Not hard. Then give us the link and we can see your activity.
You can upload thousands of photos.
You can upload tons of your computer files to save them on your host for the day when your computer crashes.
Your photos, hobby and activities are not worth $120 a year?
Well OK, use one of the free sites and hope they don't lose all your info.
I've got three websites, here's one.....

I checked my account and it has the pages numbered at the bottom of the screen, just like the traditional Photobucket site.

Just checked back in on my account and it now has numbered pages too. That is sure going to help when trying to find a photo that's buried deep in the album. It appears that they are slowly getting things fixed.

I also had trouble finding my pics. I wrote a note to Photobucket and this is the response I got:

    "Hello,
Currently, new uploads are sorted by the date the image was taken according to the camera data attached to the images. Our engineers are looking into adding other sorting options, such as sorting by date uploaded. I don't know if those will be added, but I will be sure to forward your request to our engineers.
If you need further assistance, or if you continue to have problems with sort, please let us know,
    Thank you,"

Yeah, the endless scrolling went away with the addition of page numbers, but the pics still get scattered though the folder you upload it to, even with the "Newest First" option checked. Because the "Newest First" goes by the date the picture was taken. Hopefully they will fix this.

I use Photobucket only for uploading pictures to the HAMB and other sites. I prefer Flicker for storing by albums of pictures and it works out great.
For me the new Photobucket is easy to use and works for me.

  24. Yeah, the uploading and then searching for where the photos went are a major PITA. HRP

The date and time are correct in the data on my camera,so pictures uploaded should be on the first page, I found one of them with pictures taken 7 years ago,the only pita fix is to create a new album for every day you upload

  26. why cant i reorganise my pics into the way i shot them used to be easy before they screwed with it i posted pics last night on there and they are all scrambeled up just because you can do something doesnt mean you should

and i created a new album of those pics and uploaded them to it but they didnt up load to the album they just uploaded on the opening page

and whats with this crap "your story" the pics tell the story we dont need words

and what happened to the view all ? used to make it easier to view 1000 plus pics

When I upload my pictures, I leave the "Upload Completed" window up and open each picture in a new tab as to not lose the "stray" pictures.

PITA, but I like being able to post full size pictures.

  28. Well their product director was due to call me back again, no call. I've sent a consolidated reply with most people's (inc mine) hates of their new system.

BTW for those that don't know their free users are just as important as their paid. Companies like this that offer a free service make their money from the paid adverts served up to their users.

Lets see if I get a response this time...

follow this link to see what started to come up instead of a once working image. could it be a HAMB issue on certain pages ??
