Seen good photoshop here, figured it's worth asking. Plans are keeping the fenders, wood bed, hood/sides, artilleries, and a new top (it's got a crude removable top as of now) But let's see what comes up. Shoulda put the door up on it and got the junk out of the bed for this, dangit. Oh well, just for a general idea.
Usually I'm all for cutting something up, but this looks too nice, too rare to cut up. Maybe sell it to a restorer, save it, then dive into a project with funds enough to work with? I know, I know....don't give me flack about being a wuss....I like to cut...but this looks too nice for me to see go under the knife. That's my input.
Are those wood spokes? I don't think you would want to run wood at todays speeds. I agree with Midnight340, save the rare ones.
Those sedan-to-pickup conversions were done everywhere in the world, some nice, some not-so-nice. You have a good one in pretty nice shape, it'll make a neat piece restored with multiple carbs and wire wheels so it will be driveable. Nice to see it! Have fun.
I like bringing back the almost dead. Or transforming the common. But again... when something is really unusual/rare or in exceptional condition... then I start feeling I've been handed a decision that will affect history... Does anyone else feel there's a responsibility we carry in regards to the historical concerns around the cars we love? There can be a fine line between "creation" and "destruction".....Any thoughts from others here?
I'm getting grumpy cause I haven't had my breakfast....sometimes I see a single fender with a little old paint still there and I fall in love and want to save it forever. Perspective, perspective....
I think it's really cool the way it is and would not cut it. If it was mine, I'd want to get it to running condition and maybe rework the top like he said if it's not well designed. No new paint, just leave the patina like it is. It's not mine though. I personally like to see restored or original cars to see how they were when they were new. Seems to be far less of them now than there used to be. That said, I don't have too much problem with people cutting up old rusty hulks or common cars like As. I have two thirties cars, a Lancia and an International truck. The truck will become a traditional style hot rod, the other one will stay like is for now. Someone should do the photoshop thing he asked for so he can see what it will look like before he cuts.
I tinkered on it a little but Im not the best at P-shop. Maybe someone will jump in for the next step...
Thanks ya'll! Looks right on. I love the proportions of the truck the way it is, but this makes it so much easier to visualize. If anyone wants to see more pics of it and a vid of gettin it runnin, then.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=167036&showall=1
