I just picked up a set of N.O.S. mint Mclean chrome wire wheels 52 spoke, and thinking of running them on my shoebox custom.

I would like to see some photos with wide whites mounted on them to give me an idea of what they would look like. Thanks Larry

be an unusual look - bolt pattern OK? - measured for clearance? not like Zenith, and others, used on customs/restorations.

I'm sure there are cars those would look good on, but around where I live, they would be "pimp rims" with a capitol P. Those probably cost quite a bit and that's why they'd get slapped on a '96 Buick LeSabre around these parts. Don't ask me to post pics.

Do a google search for John D'Agoistino. He has used wires and wide whites on a number of his customs.

Part of me is torn. My dad loved them. He ran them on his 38 Chevy and 36 3window. This was late eighties and early nineties. For him they meant a lot because raising a family he could not afford them earlier in his rodding career. I do prefer them more on mild kustoms. All you do is try them, but please post pics. Do love your shoebox!

They fit perfect on the shoebox, here a couple of pics with black walls, I am just curious on how it would look with wide whites.

It definitely doesn't work for me with the black walls, not that it matters as it's not my car, but you might throw the side shot picture up on the photoshop thread and ask someone to add white walls to it. To me the overall size of the tire looks too small in the pics you posted.

X2. I just got a 53 ford ranch wagon with some 66 t-bird wires. They only look good on a t-bird, or a custom buick. The steelies are goin back on.

    Fat WW vs. skinny WW…

Great looking wheels and great looking car, but it's like putting frosting on a steak….

Great lookin car. Personally I like the narrow whites with those wheels. And I normally like wide whites.

  26. I second the narrow white walls but with a higher profile tyre to fill the guard opening , just opinion though.

I like the look of the narrow white wall but I think you need a taller tire to pull it together. maybe 70 or 75 series.
