I just inked up a 55 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliner. It sat in a very dry warehouse in South Florida for 39 years. The car is straight as an arrow, and a rare find down here in Florida. My plan is to turn it into a mild custom. I would love to see some pictures for inspiration. Show me what you have.
Doesn't take much on those..nosed, decked, shaved, lowered, merc station wagon lenses are a bolt on, chrome reverse wheels or the right hubcaps, and some wide whites and your in business.
Very nice car! I love 55-56 Fords. Are you going to keep the Y block? Guys pardon my ignorance but I am pretty new to computers. Can someone explain to me how to post pictures? I would like to post a pic of my 55 in this thread.
Great find. That^^^ Won't take much to put that one on the map. If the paint is salvageable, a clean-up, stance, & wheel combo gets it rollin'!
Frank Monteleon's Barris built "Hot Rod Girl" movie car, with its molded grille shell and perfect tube grille, always comes first to mind. Classic.

I've always thought those year Vickys look good with a slight forward rake, 'ala "hot rod" stance. You can dechrome and all that, but leave the skirts off and use chrome steel wheels instead of caps.
I'd say that was a rare find in any part of the US. Looks like you are well on your way to a great looking custom. Join us over in the 52-59 Ford Social group. Lots of information in there and a great group of knowledgeable guys. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/1952-59-ford-social-group.282/
Love 55-56 Fords. My brother had a 55 Crown Vic for a while, he and a friend fixed it up to sell. When they sold it the hood flew up and smashed the windshield a mile away from home. Buyer kept the car but got a discount! (and I realize not all my pics are customs, or raked forward. I just really like the photo of the 55 with the girl)
You should probably hang out here too:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/1952-59-ford-social-group.282/
It's hard to screw one of these up, they're such good looking cars to begin with. You can go as mild or as wild as you want with one of these. A good place to start would be with the basics; nose, deck, shave. Then go from there.
Someone nosed the hood years ago. I will finish the job by decking the rear. I have a friend in New Jersey who is willing to sell me a 56 Meteor grille, and I was considering 56 Clipper tail lights. Although I think after seeing the Mercury wagon tail lights, I might go that route instead. Now I just need to find a set. Anyone have any leads?
ur 6 months 2 late I had 2 sets of merc wagons, sold them on ebay awhile, got 670 for the 1 pair and 550 for the other for a price guide if u find a pair
Hey if ya can find 60 Dodge Seneca tailights those are cool too...boy those Merc lights have gone way up since I had my 55
I have 59 Buick taillights in mine with stock 56 backup lights above them. Original Merc tail lights are crazy expensive and hard to find. Other direct bolt ins for 55-56 Fords are: 60 Buick 62 Galaxie 63 Falcon 64 Fairlane
This is what I needed to know. Both the Packard and the Merc wagon tail lights are priced through the roof now. I am going to check out all of these options for a different look. I am trying to picture a 60 Dodge Seneca tail light. Anyone have a picture?
Mine is just a simple 55 Vic that I've owned for a while (1990). I've got plans to redo it but it's hard to take a part a car I still use.
All '60 Dodge full size cars (not Lancers) used those lights, doesn't have to be off of a Dart Seneca. Could be Phoenix/Pioneer or Polara/Matador. It will replace the round part of the Ford light but you'll still have to use the upper reverse light fin plate from the Ford.
