Like Ms. Lange, Walker Evans also shot American life for the
Farm Security Administration project. This Evans shot seems
to be pretty famous, maybe because it is a true iconic
Depression-Era image. I first ran across it via the stock-photo
service Shorpy's site, if memory serves. It was said that
Evans shot it near Easton, PA, November 8, 1935. A more
recent note stated it was Joe's Auto Graveyard on Route
    22. People have fairly well ID'd Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Buick
and Hudson ranging from about '23 to '29, maybe '31.
    Anybody else recognize something???

Same old story... potential son in law not impressing potential mother in law. Just check the faces.

Pigs. On the left, from wiki: "Lawrence Ray Weishaar (September 9, 1890 - April 13, 1924) was a Class A Racing Champion in the 1910s and 1920s. He rode for the Harley-Davidson 'Wrecking Crew,' and helped to popularize the nickname 'hog' in reference to Harley-Davidson by carrying the team's mascot, a small pig, around on victory laps." On the right, one very happy pig - great car and enthusiastic driver. Stutz, maybe?

Twin6, Early Guy and myself on our way out last weekend to search for more early photos. The Rapid truck belongs to three of our friends who are a little more normal than we are.

Good ID, its a 1914-16 Bearcat which can be identified by the big starter pedal just in front of the shifter and brake.

Off with its head.....In all seriousness, this is a detachable top that was used in the winter months and taken off in good weather. They are sometimes called California tops because they originated there.

6-10-1929...... Read all about it.......It has Model T frame rails along with a T front end and steering grafted onto what I believe is a Harley-Davidson twin.

No monkey business: two Indians flanking a Douglas. The riders look like they are wearing an early version of Aerostich. The onlooker appears to be military (Camp Minnehaha?).

This career organ grinder apparently traded his monkey for this radio. New technologies are always emerging (and no more carpal tunnel).

We were looking at California tops earlier and I thought of this one. The car is a Chandler and quite nice looking in its self, with no running boards, wire wheels and very nice fenders.

The top on this one is the best of all of removeable ones I have ever seen, with great lines and a very attractive shape. This is a then new car in the Bay Area.

What sort of top do you call this? And bonus points for anyone who can ID the car. Looks like it started out as a landaulet. Right hand drive... air cooled engine... even part of a Testaphone.

This is the first traditional Rat Rod. Before and after the unique transformation, by a dealer some where in San Diego County

You just can't kill a Model T Ford. I have read a story about one that was in a river for quite a few years that a dealer did the same thing to.

Motorcycles and automobiles, Dorrance, Russell County, Kan. Circa 1908-10.

The car on the right is a Maxwell. This looks like an early club ready to head out for the day.
