Very interesting history. There is a fellow in Wisconsin who is a walking encyclopedia of Duesenberg Race Car History. First name is Jim but last name escapes me at the moment. He also owns a Duesenberg Race Car.

This is a publicity photo of a 36 Cord with pretty ladies riding in the open air. The hood ornament looks curiously like Barbara Stanwyck. Could this be the Auburn administration building area –or possibly Hollywood??

Here are a few more I could not identify. I imagine some of you may be able to.

Here is a Picture of Texas oil man Frank Yount with two of his cars, a Duesenberg, and Cord L-29. Frank owned three Duesenberg’s at the time of his death in 1933. Listed below is a transcription of an article exactly as it appeared in the November 14th Beaumont, TX Journal.

    The Beaumont Journal
    November 14, 1933

    Section A Page 11

World Fair Car Bought by Yount Arrived Monday

A lover of fine machinery, M.F. Yount, whose death occurred late Monday night, had during the recent Chicago Exposition purchased the famous World’s Fair Duesenberg automobile, a sedan, which was delivered to the Yount home Saturday afternoon.

    LICENSE PROCURED

Mr. Yount went personally to the railroad yard Saturday with Everett Randall and watched the car as it was unloaded. He, with Randall is the only person who has ridden in the car up to this time. Monday afternoon the license plates were procured

It was while the Yount family was at the Chicago exposition that they saw and admired the car. The motor particularly attracted Mr. Yount, who is so well known for his tinkering about with machinery that they neighbors when he was a boy in Arkansas used to declare that he “had wheels in his head.”

    BLACK AND GOLD

Following its purchase, it was especially decorated, a color scheme of black and gold being followed.

Special compartments are built in the back portion of the front seat and so complete is the equipment that a moving picture camera has even been included.

For the past four years, Mr. Yount has had a Duesenberg coupe, which he always referred to his “Sunday car,” and which he used only on special occasions. The World’s fair car is the third Duesenberg which the family owns.

Welcome Monkey Tool Man, if you eat enough bananas and hang with us old guys you'll be OK....... I flipped the second car over but still can't identify it.

The first car looks like it maybe an early chain drive Mercedes....Neat Photo.

Damn, I thought Frank Lloyd knew what a straight line was.

I think I liked him better riding in the Crosley!

T-Head- Coming from you, I'll take monkey tool man as a compliment. Is that one of those new New England computers you're using?

When you flip the upside down car over, it looks like a Peerless to me.

    How about this 'big wheel'?

SunRoof, maybe Barbara S., but it also looks a bit to me like Dinah Shore. Anybody?

Actually, the Duesy got saved, but Yount meant for it to be scrapped. Who wound up with it? I do not know.

I think you are right......it does look like a Peerless now that you mention it.

I'm not much good identifying 35-40 HP cars like the one in the last pix as so many of them look a like. But that one looks like a great one.

Maybe when the other Monkey Man, BIG ONO gets on here he'll know.

I'm TWONO and you're TRESNO and Kurtis is QUTRANO.

How is Mother Monkey and your little Monkeys?

Yea...... that's a Yankee computer, about all I can afford. Mother Monkey here on the farm is boiling turnips for dinner tonight, about all we have left in the root cellar and we already ate the cow.

The year is 1941. My sister looking out the back window of my parents '34 Sedan. It was taken on a road in rural ND. Some heavy snow that year!

[IMG]Fairly sure this is an Apperson, based on the number of spokes in the wheels. Cars weren't that heavy, I've always wondered why they had more spokes than other cars fron this era. This thread really has cought on, haven't checked in in a few days, will have some additions this weekend.

    I think its a DKW a smal german car with a 2cyl
2 stroke engine and a body made out of wood an pegamoid

Imagine in 1939 they were much more expensive
than a Ford V8 DeLuxe in Sweden and they somehow
was able to sell them Stuuuupid

    DKW later become Audi

That is interesting, I count 16 spokes.....they must have wanted to over build them.

Hiya, T-Head. THANKS for refreshing my memory on the "scrapped" Duesy. I had in fact forgotten that it was Pansy's, and SHE was the one who donated it for the war effort. I like the theory that's between the lines of history there, and I'm as convinced as ever the Judkins-bodied Duesenberg wasn't cut up and smelted down.

TH, haven't left yet. Too many bananas last night - there's still plenty for the rest of you HAMBers. Another collie, another rat rod. I'll try to sneak a few pix in from on the road.
