    What's the story on this pic and the
    damage to these cars? It almost looks
    like they're covered in volcanic ash
    and/or they went through an explosion
    or something.:eek: If this pic is truly pre-WWII,
    all the junked and damaged vehicles in this
    yard would have all only been just a few years
    old and still practically 'late models' at the
    time.

    It just looks like accident damage to me, much like you'd see in a late-model wrecking yard today. As for the paint, that's a MoPar isn't it? I've heard that prior to 1939 that Chrysler Corporation had serious issues with paint that were only solved by trading the rights to the Lockheed hydraulic brake system to Ford for FoMoCo's paint formulas.

    :DCAPTION - "While still confined
    to the Nebraska State Asylum for the
    Terminally and Incurably Insane, evil
    inventor, sociopath and noted misopede,
    Frances Ferdnurgher Krakpotkin patented
    the world's first automobile 'child seat' in
    1920. Fortunately, the possession, sale
    and use of Krakpotkin's so-called 'child's
    car seat' device was soon banned, first in
    the U.S by a special act of Congress in
    1921, and then, later, internationally, by
    a League of Nations treaty the following
    year
    ." :eek::eek::eek::D

    Jeeze....I didn't know people had photoshop
    programs for their home computers back in
    1937!!!:eek::eek::D:D LOL (I've heard that
    back then too, that the internet - believe it
    or not - was only available on dial-up!!!! ):D

    ------------------
    PS. - Speaking of very early computers,
    here's a drawing of an experimental,"ABC"
    ('Atanasoff-Berry Computer') computer
    developed at the University of Iowa, circa
    1937-'42 - and then lost until it was rediscovered
    in the 1960's.

    The Packard gals aren't big fans of rabbit, but here are some of their favorite foods...

    Depending on what year it was White King used a swastika on it's label. wonder how many people would buy soap named White King with a swastika on the box nowadays?

    49RatFink, LOTS of great pix, bro! Hey, is this a gyrocopter, autogyro, or what? I seem to recall that there were differences. Gyrocopter? One even appeared in the Gable/Lombard '34 comedy, "It Happened One Night."

  28. Autogyro. they have a short T/O and can land on a postage stamp but no hover. The main rotor, on most, is just freewheeling.

    The Housewife's Friend: 1915 - Kitchen
    Appliance." A three-burner Alcohol Utilities
    stove with griddle and toaster circa 1915."

    Someone has obviously converted this original
    circa-1915 still picture into a modern-day
    animated 'GIF' image but both the original still
    pic and especially this updated GIF version
    are
    already so totally bizarre that I don't dare add
    my own caption!!!:eek::D LOL!
