This is captioned as Buick but not having a lot of GM knowledge I am unsure. Could it also be Olds, they also had a four or Chevrolet?

Pretty sure this is the (Bud) Rose/Winfield, late 1938. Not sure where it came from, but the following year Bud put an Offy (or Miller) in it, and it became one of the many "Riverside Specials" of its time (see Tom Motter's "History of Oakland Speedway", p100). I think this is the same car he still competed with after WW2, now with a "bull nose" and a headrest, and a gaudy coat of paint (see Buzz Rose's "Kings of the Hills", pp 47 & 55).

As soon as they hit 50mph, the hats will fly off and the running boards will be rid of passengers. They look more like the 15mph crowd to me.

often hear of! And how many makes came out of West
Virginia? ANYBODY come up with a period photo
    of this long, low machine?

The guy on the left?? Hmmm?? Methinks....Alexander Graham Bell....the guy who invented a truly evil and probably satan-inspired, 'two-way voice communication device', so that telemarketers can call us whenever we sit down for dinner or get into the shower??!!:eek::D

Sometimes the clothing is as interesting as the cars. Is that a Buick emblem on the step plate?
