:DCAPTION - "Much to Bert's surprise and
also, to his ultimate dismay, attaching a
miniature homebuilt airplane to the roof
of his 1930 Erskine sedan did not appreciably
improve the car's 'aerodynamic qualities'- or
even noticeably affect anything else in any
useful way either! But like 'Ricer Wings',
4-inch diameter 'fart can' exhaust tips and
other freakish '70-odd year into the future'
styling fads that his 'airplane on the roof'
was a precursor of, it did excel in making
him the laughing stock of all the other guys
    at the track!

Not a good car photo, but a great look at how people dressed in 1929.

That fenderless chevy looks like a 26 body with a 27 radiator - someone like jimmy B may be able to confirm. Are those split rims on those wires.

Going through my Roof literature and wonder if this is the car that qualified at 118MPH at Atlantic city Speedway? That was a board track, and they did run "Stock cars" there in the late 1920's. Roof made complete single seat Chevy powered cars, and ROOF overheads for Chevrolet as well as Ford four cylinder engines. Has anyone ever seen the Overhead valve head he made for straight 8 CORD? :)

Some day I'll have a good camera, here is the ROOF head for the straight 8 CORD. Looks like two seperate heads, wonder how close the Ford head layout is to half of a CORD? The Overhead cam head ROOF made for the A&B is rare, I had two that I sold to Doc Pruden back in the early 1970's, always wondered if they are out there running somewere.

Cars and folks are long gone, but that lovely old tree and some of the houses are still there!

Hanley Castle is a small village, a few miles south of Worcester (if you look it up on Google Maps and zoom in to the street view you can see the church, the tree and some of the houses still there).

I'm not a big fan of those matronly Packard girls that T6 finds at the bridge table and the country club.

How about these nymphs.... The Denishawn Dancers Posing with an Essex ?? Sedan, captioned as taken in April of 1922.

One for Twin (and everybody!) who loves tow trucks! Inscription
on pic back says "1924 Packard truck, Benj F. Stephens, Brooklyn,
N.Y." Looks as if Stephens sold and serviced Hudson and Essex,
but they had a TASTEFUL tow truck! LOL. Photo is THANKS to "Big
    Kev" and the PackardInfo.com site!
