half-track from France, on the trailer a light Cletrac tractor from
the US. Similar tests were held in the Netherlands for the Dutch

Reading-Standard motorcycles - another Harley competitor in their day.

 

Those are air cushion tyres - they gave a marginally better ride that straight solids. Top speed was still limited though. I think in the UK the top speed allowed on solids was 12mph, here in NZ it is a bit more. I once drove a fire engine on solid tyres - illegally at 35mph.
