    The first electric taxis hit the streets of New York City in 1897. Before the 1920s, electric automobiles were competing with petroleum-fueled cars for urban use of a quality service car. In 1897, electric vehicles found their first commercial application in the U.S. as a fleet of electrical New York City taxis, built by the Electric Carriage and Wagon Company of Philadelphia. (Electric Vehicle Company)

    Just an interesting pic of an early ALMOST-bad day!!:eek:! From the WikiMedia Commons project,
    this photo was published opposite page 48 of "California Highways: A Descriptive Record of Road
    Development by the State and Such Counties as Have Paved Highways", 1920, written by Ben
    Blow. It is captioned as follows: "On Ridge Route in Los Angeles County. Guard rails sometimes
    save careless drivers." :eek::rolleyes:

    He's the head engineer on the Ford-Edison electric car project in the teens. His name was Fred Allison.

    That's Highland Park in the background. There's a later picture of another built on a Model T frame.

    Established in the year 1910, in Lahore, Sohal Tourist Taxi Services started their work in Pakistan. After the partition, we moved to Delhi and started our services here. Sardar Daya Singh Sohal made a lot of efforts in establishing the company in Delhi, India. It is due to his fruitful efforts that Sohal Tourist Taxi Service is in existence today
