Looks like this family is away from home, but they wanted everyone to know where home was. No luggage - day trippers?

this car did not make it very far at all before breaking down and leaving the race.
Ill prepared for a trip around the world, broke down within 50 miles of the start. Note Michelin Tires!

This around the world race was at a time when cars didn't have heaters, windshields, adequate lighting, and in the dead of winter when the only real roads were through cites, th rest were dirt paths.; No snow plows, and sometimes progress was measured in feet, not miles.
They also did not have anti freeze, so water in the motors had to be drained overnght and kept from freezing on a stove to keep the motors from freezing and cracking.

SWI66 Thanks for the race photos.....Here are a couple from the Packard truck assembly line. I'm am guessing in the 20's as they all seem to have pneumatic tires.

Thanks, swi66, for some great shots. These were taken in Seattle, June 1909.

1912 I believe, based on the shape of the rear fender. Great photo!

A large group of men in two early barrel hooded Franklins. They are parked out in front of what looks like the TP Hotel.

Here is an interesting backyard special which in spite of the Indian in one of the photos I believe may have been built in the UK? Indians were very popular in the UK and the components of this car all look to be from a very small RHD British car?

Perhaps someone will recognize some of the components or the radiator?

A very nice photo of an early steam roller.....Note the bicycle strapped on the back for getting somewhere quickly, like maybe back home at the end of the day.....

Another hot day in the northeast. It feels like I'd expect at the crossing between San Diego and Tijuana.
