They used a Pierce like this (diff color) for the original movie "Cheaper by the Dozen".

I think the conventional headlight option on Pierce-Arrows were called "New York" lights. Could someone confirm that. Add me to the list of conventional headlight fans. :D

  8. Ooh- my mistake! The movie car had the headlights in the fenders- NOT the New York lights- thanks 37kid!

By that, do you mean drum lights mounted in yokes in front of the radiator? I know Pierce and Packard offered that as an option about the same time. Probably for Pierce the drums were Bausch & Lomb, and for Packard, C.M. Hall. I'm no fan of the fender jobs either. I recall old timers telling me how easy it was, when driving at night back in the 20's and 30's, to tell the Pierces from all other cars, on account of those wide set lights. Nothing else like it.

Nice Pierce in front of Tom Botterill's dealership in Salt Lake City, 1913. This photo and some others recently posted, from Utah State Historical Society.

I have been trying to find photos of road trains that operated in Australia prior to WW2. There weren't many.

i was truly surprised to find this photo of an early electric powered Road Train operating in Germany:

Another from USHS, but not a Pierce (Cadillac, perhaps?). Looks like T-Head on top of Jumbo. The derby is a nice touch...

This photo is borderline. Australia was at war, but the US wasn't. Please delete if not suitable. Thanks:

Brisbane, Queensland, 1898. The Customs House is still the same, having been recently restored. The road is the same, but, the tram tracks went in the 1960's:

Diesel engined car which is equally at home on the road or on a railway track, was tested for the first time on the Great West Road, near London, England

JUst to show I'm still here. Here's a Marmon, Stearns, and a nearly-new, but slightly used 1913 Overland. Check out the seat covers.

We toured Put-In-Bay Island, Ohio last week, but didn't see anything like this.
