HEY Thanks to Twin6 for starting this thread and all of his hard work and great photos. I just noticed that his thread turned 100 with the last post.

We hit 100? I feel old! All kidding aside, many thanks to all who have contributed. We've got a great thing going, and it will be fun to keep it going. Unlike other threads where "then and now" type photos are common (not to mention FUN), we have worked hard to stick with our original goal of having only photos taken before WW2. As a result, we have something unique and special. Again, thanks to all of you literally from around the globe, who've help make this special. Time to hang out on the porch now and relax!

Small world, isn't it? He sold it. Last I knew it was in California. And you said you didn't know about these...

I thought Mark was a STANLEY only guy.:) I saw the car about 3 years ago, wonderful original, and that steering wheel just looked so odd on an early steam car.

A Pope Hartford paddy wagon made in Hartford Ct. only twenty-five miles from Waterbury, which was called the Brass City because of all the brass mills that were offshoots of the CT clock industry.

Keen eye, T6! I'll see if a friend has the '11 license registry (I know he has part of the '05-'10 rubber plate years).

I'm ashamed to say that I forget whether or not I've posted this one. Well, it's worth a second look if I did.

It looks like such a short wheelbase with the big wheels. The running board can't be more than a foot long. Truly impressive machine.

I haven't got access to all my Packard material at the moment, but that's a 1906 model S (also called model 24), with Henry B. Joy at the wheel. I do recall that the car's nickname was "Tige" but forget the exact location in NYC (it's not the dealership that lasted so long on Broadway). One can never post too many photos like this...

Hot and humid here, today, and I am so glad I am not with these guys hauling logs. Great examples of what were probably sedans, that got cut off and made into something more useful once the cars had logged many miles. And a baby on the roof?

Yes, this is a great thread and it deserves to continue for a long time to come.

I like the hot rods, custom cars, classics, finds, builds, etc, but, I also enjoy all of this "early stuff". I'm happy looking at the photos and reading the posts. It's truly amazing the variety that is out there on the www., but even more amazing, that people have taken the time to upload all of this in fairly recent years so that so much information isn't lost.

If you are buying ice on a hot summer day like today.....Remember to buy it from a reputable firm like this one from Napoleon Ohio, 1898. The must have stored their ice above all sewers......

and this is what he was doing. There is some argument as to whether or not this was the first powered flight in Australia. (There has been a previous post featuring a Mr DeFries, who is another contender to the title):

Hi, gang, and I add my CONGRATS to all for the great thread reaching 100 pages -- especially in a month or so!

But, as you know, I've been plying the EXTINCT ( and near-extinct) thread for a while. Lots and lots of cars on the Twin-Six's thread have been shown without makes or years attached to them.

I'm still desperately looking for pix and/or evidence of survival of any of the following. Please HELP if you can.

    Luverne
    Parkin
Heine-Velox (1906 only; the '23 is known in small numbers)
    Perfex
    Bay State
    Pomeroy
    Woods Mobilette (cyclecar)

Have any of these been on this voluptuous thread but not ID'd as any of the above?

    Many thanks!!!

I don't believe so. Oftentimes, the make isn't posted because none of us can tell for sure what it is, and when we do, we try to mention it. After all, we are trying to combine fun and education, and toss in a mystery every so often. Some of those mysteries never get solved. Now that you've given us a challenge, maybe old pix of some of those makes wil appear here. I'd think the Woods mobilette was the "low hanging fruit" that will appear sooner than later!
