    I LOVE this thread. It's fantastic to see
    all the real OLDIE car pix that just don't
    ever show up ANYWHERE. But the other
    items that crop up are nothing short of
    precious. I could start over and just say
    that all AGAIN! This photo of the Thylo-
    cene is the BEST I have ever, ever seen,
    Mister Fire! This "tiger" was actually a
    MARSUPIAL carnivore that leap from
    trees onto ancient (extinct) camels and
    giant kangaroos. It is amazing that any
    survived into the early 20th Century . . .
    and it's a damn shame, too, that they
    went extinct. I guess the Sumatran rhino
    is next to go. -- J

    I recognize the wall behind the sailor and his car. It's just outside of the Charlestown Navy Yard near Boston.

    I believe that's a 1915 British Columbia wire-rimmed license plate. Nice low #.
