Delaunay-Belleville, with its circular radiator in front, is perhaps the most representative of pre-war cars. Emerged in 1904 from an old boiler plant and machinery for the Navy and designed by M. Barbaroux, high quality and be one of the first to equip a six-cylinder engine were soon ranked among the leading French cars. Hence, they were preferred by the nobility and high social class. Among their clientele was French President Poincaré Raimond, King Alfonso XIII of Spain, King of Greece and Czar Nicholas II of Russia, for whom the brand built a huge exclusive orders of six cylinders and 70 hp. On the reliability and robustness of the Delaunay Belleville car can attest the feat performed by the English JJMann, which he completed in 1910 around the world with a 15 HP Type H ".

A car of this brand imported by Mr. Eduardo Vionnet, was the first with six-cylinder engine to reach Esperanza (argentina). It had electric lights and starter. It was bought on a trip to Europe at the Paris Motor Show 1911, by the founder (along with his brother Joseph) of the house of Vionnet House general store and cited it as an anecdote that also came "equipped" with its specialist maintaining and driving "his" chauffeur "- Mr. Aurelio Chesa-based then it gave rise to a prominent family in town.

The factory had achieved great prestige was based in Saint-Denis (France) had to cease production of its luxury cars at the start of the first war to produce war materiel. Resumed operation at the end of the conflict but failed to re-enter the market. Several subsequent attempts failed to position the brand that came to build cars with components from different factories and in 1950 completely disappeared
Vionnet's family had stables on the current Street between Moreno Castellanos and Cordoba Avenue, west side, more or less half a block and there kept his carriages and this car was covered with white, where it remained until its sale to the junkyard of Don Calisto Erni, who was recognized many years later regretted having destroyed to sell as scrap that block the first six-cylinder engine that came to Esperanza.

Note the hand scraped aluminum crankcase. Bugatti did this as well, any thoughts on weather it was decoration or an effort to seal pouris aluminum?[IMG]

The other photo was at the Wisconsin State fair. She jumped off of the ramp and did a summersault and then landed on a different ramp.

He was supposedly about to tow it to Brisbane from Sydney, I identified it as a Premier or Peerless ( I forget) from another shot.

My guess would be an attempt to better
seal the crankcase. I think any oil leaks
would be a dangerous fire hazard in an
    already hydrogen-filled :)eek:) Zeppelin.

Something else is seems 'odd' about that
    Maybach Zeppelin engine. Besides having
overhead valves it also *appears* to have
another set of exhaust ports at the bottom
of the cylinders. Anybody know what's up
with this? And if they're not exhaust ports,
any other ideas or explanation of what
    they're for??

Two rural New York settings, pretty typical of small town USA, with some nice gas pumps.
