Drop me a pm if you need help. I have a copy of photoshop kickin' around here somewhere, along with a reg#, but I have to find it. It might be quicker just to have someone do it though. Let me know...

Since there are Photoshop guru's checking out this post I have a quick question. Is there a way to make all the photos in one folder true 4x6's for printing. I just had a bunch of photos printed and they did a lousey job. Some of the edges got cut off. I'd even like to make them all like 3 3/4 by 5 3/4 in my folder, if thats possible, and then I'd have them printed 4x6 and trim them myself. I really need the very edges of these photos.

Anyone know how to do it? Anyone understand what I'm asking [IMG] [IMG]

Denise, are you scanning these photos?

The crude, obscure program I use to run my scanner lets you custom select any size you want for the picture...and it'll scan it that size.

It MAY work to size digital images...it's actually a pretty versitile program that I only know the tip of, as far as it's potential. I could bring the program over and you could see if you like it.

Nope, they are all high res photos on my hard drive that just need to be resized so I can print them properly. I have the program Photoshop 7.0 but I can't figure out how to resize the photos so they will come out with all of the edges.

Do they need to be re-sized larger or smaller?

I would guess smaller cuz the very 1/16 to 1/8 of the edge is being cut off during printing. The photos in my hard drive need to be resized so they print a true 4x6 inches [IMG]

Have you tried going to the menue bar on the top?
    Image_Image Size
and tried resizing the pic that way?

Also, if the dimensions of the image don't divide down to 4 x 6, you will not be able to print them at 4 x 6 without either cropping it down, re-sizing the top/bottom or side/side size (wich will cause skewing and distortion) or cloning in the bkgnd to fill in the void.

I'll try both your suggestions but I think the dimensions won't divide down is the problem. Maybe I can sweet talk Beatnik into coming over and helping, he's pretty good with photo stuff.

    Denise-

You can do anything you can do in Photoshop to a whole folder of images using the Actions. They are recordings of commands done to a file. Then you apply them to all the files in a folder and BAM, you've got a folder all resized, cropped, aged or whatever. I will make one for you if you want or tell you in depth how to do it, send me a PM.

To resize the images easily try Fit Image - it is under the File menu.

    File>Automate>Fit image

Your image probably needs to be 300 dpi for printing. 300dpi x 4inches = 1200, 300dpi x 6inches = 1800. Now you are telling the program to make the image fit within a box that it 1200x1800 pixels for a horizontal, switch it for a verical. It doesnt crop the image, just makes it fit whichever side is bigger.

Example: if your image is 4 1/2 by 6, you tell it fit image 1200 x 1800 (4x6), it fits the 41/2 side in and your print ends up being shorter than 6 inches. I feel its better to have space you can cut off than to crop image out.

Always save to another folder than your source folder...dont want to lose your master file or screw it up and not have a backup....

PM or email me if you want more clarification or for that Action.

    Kat
