I think its more the steering of the mind of thinking it may be a modded 54 Chev which I felt myself at a quick glance...not gonna mince words. I think it was the Shark Tooth up and down projections that talked that. The Pontiac bar is not as identifiable to me anyway. One thing I will mention is the Circular Bullet in a Oval opening...In Vonzemo's and Moose's renderings are okay but looking front center are those going to flow pleasingly. Better to ask now before surgery begins. You have the eye...I'm perhaps wrong and it is Circular to Circular and it all flows. Your existing Bar is more complimentary to the Factory original grill Hudson had and that's what gives pause. Mixing parts is an interesting connection to Hotrods and Customs...it truly is a form of Jalopyization... It is interesting at that period they were inserting lighting into the bars and trim so it is a period correct option. This Shape correlation is what I'm talking about...
Vonzemo I have one last request. Could we do what you have below with smaller bullets. I think the ones here overcrowd the grille opening. Generally I am happy with this concept and appreciate your efforts.
Heres about a 15-20% reduction on the bullets. I agree, much better ! Yeah no problem on the effort part. I'm having fun. Whenever I can in some way contribute to help design or further develop such a great piece of rolling art , I'm all in my friend.
I like the Pontiac bar with the Dagmar bullets. It's a tried-n-true, "classic" look but what's wrong with that?..... Not a thing! I'm also partial to another "classic" for this era of customs, the Buick waterfall vertical teeth. But scale down the total amount of chrome in the teeth to feature the clean lines of the frameless grill opening and the rest of the car.
So I am revisiting this. I am thinking that I might go for the existing bar just being trimmed off and replacing the indicators with small ones below the headlights but in line with the bar. I am concerned that the beauty bar and bullets will look too heavy in the opening. Also dropped off the bar to the platers and it needs some serious repair work and they quoted a four month turn around!!! Busy obviously.
This other look is a beautiful Redesign as well...If you are placing signals they would be period based? Perhaps as suggested hidden or setbacks in the blackout area below the redesign grille bar would keep things clean...just bouncing opinions as you are surely very cautious of how things look.
I thought about placing them in the area below the grille bar in the blackout area but I don't think that is legal. That is where I would like them but they have to be a maximum distance from the outside of the car and that maybe too much. They will be period correct as possible.
You have to roll with the punches and safety is good...check the laws that...may be a grey area. If its not law you can wire it up and see...heck think about motorcycles the lights are a 1 to 2 feet apart. Laws are laws and you fellas have it tough thats for sure.
