I'd like to lose the Centerlines & go with red steelies with chrome rings & center caps. One of the main reasons for doing this,is Im tired of the bumpy-*** ride with the M/T bias plys on the back. The rims are 15x12s & I'd like to change over to a 15x9 with the same backspace, only with some BFG radials. Wouldn't it look more traditional with the red wheels as well? Thanks.
Just me, but I'd forget the red steelies and go with chrome reverses and spider caps on 2" whites (a la Roth's 'Tweety Bird'), swap the C-lines and M/T steamrollers for a 3x2 intake setup.
Now there's a good suggestion. The super-wide painted steelies with chrome center caps has been done so much on streetrods that I just don't like the look. Really wide rear wheels was not done until the early 70's because of the lack of a sufficient tire to fit to the wheel. The chrome steelies would look great with some 2" whites or even some redlines for a mid 60's look, and a Tripower would look great too, although a Corvette louver style air cleaner on the current carb would look nice too. Cliffy (another HAMBer) is giving his recently purchased, super 1985 looking T bucket a makeover right now and he's got finned aircleaners on a 3x2 and is replacing the lame super wide rears with something more fitting of a 60's style rod. Should look nice.
I still dig red steelies. Lose the br*** radiator shell. And do something about the steering wheel. -stick
Hey folks, thanks for your time doing the editing. Still not sure if Im gonna keep this thing,,I'm looking at total shoulder replacement surgery soon,& I'm tired of it beating my old body up(had back surgery too). Im still gathering parts for the replica of my dads car,so I guess thats next. Thanks again for your different views of the dune buggy.I like the red wheels,& thats an all br*** 6 core radiator. tc
