Thanks for those pictures. That blue Courier/sedan delivery is 100 percent '57 in my opinion. Front end, side trim, hubcaps, all '57. All of the other cars pictured are '58 models with Custom 300 trim.
the build plate would probably tell the truth.not saying they are not just blowing smoketo sell a er rare vehicle.keep them coming regardless I as well as others enjoy what you and Jeff dig up
The '58 in post # 627 is a Custom, not a Fairlane. like '57s, the Custom models not only were a shorter wheelbase car, the back fins are totally different. All Custom platformed cars (Customs, Rancheros, all wagons, sedan deliveries) had a straight fin, whereas the Fairlane fins were not only taller, they were more sculpted and curved down as they approached the front door. Ford never made a Fairlane wagon in '57 or '58 contrary to one pre-production sales brochure that was printed in early '56.
Beautiful car, and this pic clearly shows the Fairlane fin's added height, sculpturing and leading edge of the fin curving down as it approaches the front door as compared to the lower straingt fin on Customs (see my avatar)
1957 Fairlane - leading edge of fin is curved as noted by Texas57 1957 Custom - leading edge of fin is straight 1957 Custom
My son recently had his senior pictures made and he specifically requested the 55 to be in the shots. Here are a few...
