Thanks for confirming that joe. As soon as I saw it, I wondered if it was the one I saw in Tulsa at the Starbird show in '19.
Paint scheme and the extra stainless above the thick one below it for a 56 Rudeaux or whatever they are called. The closest one and the one next to it..
How many differences can you spot on the “Birds” in the Rotunda pictures of post #700 above? Just count different features on the cars, not the things in the background.
A bunch, but one thing sure popped into my head. I always wondered why Ford went with the oval opening grille on their attempt at bringing the Bird back. I always thought, man, that's 'vette, not Bird. That top photo sure aligns closer to the new/last generation. I like it a lot. Any pics of the back end? From the side, it looks like a mini '56 Mark
I didn’t find any other views of that car yet, but there must be something out there. I spotted about a dozen differences. Viewing on a larger screen definitely helped!
Birds eye view shows the Lincoln Continental with the black top (possibly a padded top), and here we can see the 52 Lincoln taillights in the reshaped rear fenders. In the center of the photo we can see the 1940 Mercury of Jerry Yatch, Bob Palmer’s 1955 T-Bird restyled by Clarkaiser, and Ray Cortop***i streamliner dragster.
Clarkaiser had a total of three of their restyled cars on display. The third one is Bop Palmer’s 1955 Thunderbird the ‘Golden Bird” created when the car was near new. The car has extended rear fenders with ’55 Ford taillight and modified 1951 Merc fender skirts, the front was reshaped with a new grille opening with grille created from 1955 Buick bumper components with peaked dagmars. The hood scoop was reshaped, it has molded in headlights, a general shave and a wonderful golden pearl white paint job. https://www.customcarchronicle.com/custom-cars/rotunda-customs-1956-show/#.YAm9sKQ8KEc
that is not her for sure.like a lot of people that show was a mainstay for me.sad but those days are only memories or replays
Kinda weird how all the chrome isn't shiny like real 50's chrome. The mercury almost looks fake like a clay model or something.
Good observation! I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. I couldn't find that picture again when I went back into their website. There was a photo of a different car that was identified as a prototype. I guess this could be a clay model.
