So I need to do this and was looking for some ideas from the brain trust here. I'm thinking of only doing a 1 bar setup. Running stock rear end on a 41 Ford Pickup with an open driveline conversion. Thanks, Mike
Panhard bars ? There is usually only one bar that runs side to side from the axle on one end to the frame at the other end. Its purpose is to keep the rear axle centered in the chassis. I try to keep it as long as is practical, at the same elevation as the axle centerline and, most of all, level when the car is at ride height. I'm not sure that you meant that item.
Stud, Thanks for the pics. That definitely gets the ideas flowing. I was thinking that I'd connect it from the top of the banjo to the frame. Your setup looks quite different. Mike
More info: The bar is original, on the one end there is a mount hanging from the crossmember, and on the other end there is a stud on the spring mount, I think it's one piece. Yea, a po put tube shocks on it, it's kinda crude and I'm working on a better idea.
In case you are interested...see www.panhard.com these "bars" were first used on the French cars built by Mr. Panhard..a little history..not much of a website but....
You could use a J bar with a mount bolted pinion where tourqe tube bolt's up.You probably would have to fab one up.They use this style all the time on stock car's.It would save you from haveing to weld on axle hsg. Look in the speedway catalog just type in panhard bar. Gregg
here's what an aftermarket setup looks like on a late model stock car. this stuff is pre-fabbed, cheap, reliable, & ready to weld wherever the hell you want to put it...mel
