Technical Pic Request - Roadster Roofs / Roofs with Slanted Posts

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by 28A, Dec 11, 2013.

  1. Hey fellas,

Looking for ANY pics of roofs on Model A / '32 Roadsters for some inspiration and ideas.. and also for pics of roofs on cars with slanted back posts as i am still deciding whether or not to slant the posts back on my car.

Pics of the roof on the car, and any of the frame work would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

  4. Thats cool, thanks fellas. I've borrowed a mates roof from his Roadster and thrown it on mine and the roof is going uphill. His windscreen is chopped the same as mine but his posts are cut down.. might have to figure a way to get it to sit over the top of my chopped posts and get the roof flat like both your cars above have.

  6. Careful when you cut down the windshield posts because your head will stick above the windshield or possibly your eyesight Will be in line with the top of the windshield frame!

You might have to change the seat so that you can fit in the car when the top is up.

These were my thoughts when I was contemplating a top for my Roadster.

Be careful. I had a roadster once that had a really killer top on it. Only problem was the rear bow was right over my head. Left for the LA Roadster show with only 100 local miles on the car. 2800 miles later I was punchy from banging my head on the stupid top bow every time I hit a big bump at speed. Once I got home, the top came off and never went back on. I learned the hard way.

  8. But I bet you looked pretty bad***ed driving down the road!

What a dichotomy. .. to have a top over your head to protect you and it beats the hell out of you.

    Hahaha!

  9. I see Zachs roof going slightly uphill and that looks just fine! I love Bonesy's car, infact i think i've seen you on Instagram haha.. such a sweet car.

I know what you guys mean about bangin your heads on the top bows, the roof i'm borrowing has smacked me once or twice in my mates Roadster. I have mounted my seat nice and low so that shouldn't be a problem!

  10. Heres a pic from last night with the roof on. Keep in mind, it could go another inch lower on the side you can see here. It must have a little bit of a bend in it because it sits flat and lower on the drivers side..

In my humble opinion, there has never been a more perfectly shaped and proportioned top than the one on this Deuce.

I dig this shot of Mel (dirtyestdevil) making this one. I absolutely love the proportions.

I wish I'd thought of this when I cut mine down. In now as you put it looking right at the bar. I've got some Austin Healey buckets that will fix that I hope. It stinks for now.
