Find the original! According to that caption, it's in Illinoise.

Man I wish my T was that cool. If your going to build a clone it might be easier to find the original then to find an Ardun equipped flatty.

Maybe... A guy in my home town in PA sold a complete original NOS ardun kit for $100...

    ...in 1974!

It is a real cool T, no doubt!

Yeah, one of my friends bought a set a couple years ago for $300 so it is possible...but not likely.

I think Russco already has the ARDUN situation under control. ;)

Finding an ARDUN is not a difficult proposition, only costly. Much easier than hoping to procure the original body and chassis from the Scotty's car.

Russco has the orginal engine out of this car with both intakes, Now he needs a steel body and a chrome shop.

I have a steel body and a chrome shop. I'll trade them for the Ardun engine. :)

I really do have a steel T roadster body, but it's in one thousand pieces. And needs a lot of patching. But I'd still trade for the Ardun.

You could always buy my T and sell what you don't need hahaha!!!

Anyone know the wheel base on this thing? My T has a 105" and I think I would like it to be somewhere around 100". Anyways, keep posting pics of this thing its awesome!!!

  12. Bet that car is more like 120" wheel base.

Thanks for the pictures and info, I called the muffler shop but the owner bough it from the Scott family years ago. He knew of the car but had no other info about it
Alchemy do you really have a chrome shop? for some reason I always thought the wheel base was around 100"

I definitely do not think it's around 120" 100" sounds better and would account for the cars great stance and perfect proportions even for a full out race car. I am going to start digging.

    I bet it's about 110", doesn't look long enough for 120" but it's longer than 100"...

What's with the 6 lug front wheels? Are they 14's? They look small.

Mike, does your dad know you are stealing that motor out of his rail? ha ha ha

Front wheels and hubs are probably 12 inchers from a sprinter.

The six lug front wheels are 12" midget wheels drilled for Halibrand 6 pin knock off hubs. Scotty and Earl Evans were good friends. He always ran Evans on the right side, and Scotty's on the left side. Bob Baugh bought the car from Scotty in '57, and took it back to Chicago. The car and engine still exsist, just not with the same owner.

Awesome Dean!!! Now if we could only get the owner to come off the body for Russco!

I like the touch of running Scotty's on one side and Evans on the other.

Bob Baugh was a friend of my dads he was actually from Springfield IL, they had a foundry here. My dad got the Ardun from Bob shortly after the car came back to Illinois my dad ran it in for a couple seasons in 2 different FED's and then stuck it in the corner of the garage where it sat until a few years ago, We put it in an old WG car for display. Bob also bought the old "Heidelburg Roadster" which was also from San Bernardino Don Hughes was the driver and suffered similar injuries as Big Daddy in a driveline explosion in it. Here is the Ardun as it is today in the WG car and a picture of the Heidelburg and my dads old FED with the Ardun
Dean do you know who has the T roadster?

Dick Brogdon from Jacksonville, Il. used to own the T, and sold the Ardun after it wasn't competitive in his class. I got the few leftover Ardun parts from him years ago - water necks, lifters, pushrods, copper head gasket seals, etc. - I cleaned out the old trunk. He told me he that he sold the chassis to a guy in Kentucky[?] and he was racing it at his local strip, painted yellow, Chevy motor, fiberglass body, different wheels, etc. completely unrecognizable as the Muffler car. He may have sold the body locally in Jacksonville, and the countrys most famous set of pipes got cut up!
I too thought of remaking the car since I had most of the parts to do it. I even talked to Scotty about it - he thought it was funny when I asked where the Colton Antique Store was. Colton Antiques was the club he belonged to, not a sponsor. If some of those guys are still around maybe they could shed more light.
My health stopped me from going to the airplane junkyards here in Arizona to look for oval wing struts like Scotty used for the main frame rails. That and too many other projects...
Talk to Dick Brogdon about it, I think he lives in Idaho now, and is a L.A.Roadster member. Hope you do it, I'd love to HEAR IT! theBo'B
