I have one in the works, triple carb intake from offy, with matching valve cover, I got a cam from egge, but i'm still deciding a ******, i would like to use a Ford-o-Matic, but i was wondering, can you adapt the car auto, to the truck bellhousing, or can i switch out bell houisings? not trying to hijack the thread. Oh and another vote for the 223, you can make 'em look damn nice, they used one in something in Street Rodder mag.

Personally I would use the 318/904 combo. I wouldn't use the rear though. That 5x4 bolt pattern is hard to fit wheels anymore. Use a rear out of a "B","C", or "E" body or truck. Those are 5x4.5 pattern. Good luck on the project.

Hey S.O. - do you have any pix of the one that you are working on?

I don't know the answer on the transmission, but I can ask a couple of longtime hot rodders at work..

Just of it all greasy when i pulled it out of the truck, my camera decided it didn't want to work a few days ago, but what do you need for pics? right now i'm just trying to figure out the linkages for the carbs and what to do about a header since the offy intake only works with the stock exhaust. Oh I'd recomend if you can do it later on getting a different ****** for that, because running the gears you are thinking of can be hard on the clutch, but at the same time running 4.10's or something would really ****. That's why i'm trying to figure out the whole ford-o-matic deal. Mines not super fancy, it was just had some sentimental value that's why i kept it, came from my first truck, couldn't do anything with the truck, so i pulled the engine and plan on building a car around it. I am also into kind of odd ****, and olds engines, I have a Straight 8 buick, 4cyl opel, 2 303 Rockets, 394 Sky Rocket, and am working on getting a flat 4 es*** engine. I've got to much **** on my plate.....Oh well. If ya got questions i'll try and help.
