Sweet score! Glad it runs, now for the moving and stopping parts!
Get a manual and find a forum for that beast. They probably have answers to questions you haven't even thought of, and can help with parts too.
I doubt my Chrysler is going to WA and I bet you aren't planning an AZ trip, but we can still both cruise in old style luxury!

Great score! We have a '51 Coupe DeVille that I have to have finished by this November for my wife's 50th b-day. She's getting excited and loves going to swap meets to look for a few of the detail parts we still need. It's great to have your wife interested in the hobby!

  10. Great Car!! It is hard to keep them in the garage, they want to GO!!!!

  11. 'Ain't that the truth!!:D

I'm going to be rebuilding the carburetor on monday, there seems to be an air leak between the front and rear barrels? Has anyone seen anything like that?

It's like the choke isn't working, when you pull the choke, the carb is pulling air through the secondaries. I have an original service manual for the WCFB that is on there, but it doesn't mention anything like that.

I'm just hoping to get a heads up for what I should look for. I'm wondering if during the test-runs and drives, if the secondary throttle-plates got opened and are not closing all the way?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I would like to go to the shop armed with more than a screwdriver and a dirty look!!!:D

    Thanks H.A.M.B.ers!

  12. If its ****ing air through the secondaries, I think your on the right track with the plates not closing. May just need a bit od WD40 and work it back and forth a bunch. Old gas varnish can cause all sorts of stupid problems!!

Gotta love it when you get to take that first drive, even if it's just a few feet. Great score there.

How about an update? It's been almost two years so you should hopefully have it running pretty good by now....

  17. Yup, we got it running real well, it now starts with its own key and with no extraneous hook-UPS. Got a new fuel line made to go from the factory fuel pump to the carb.

Even better, we got some new shoes for the old girl! L78-15 Denman bias wide white walls!!!
