I wasn't looking for another car, but this one found me. 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe. Older build of a restored stocker originally from CA. Found out it was once owned by Cecil Yothers - of "Melrose Missle" A/FX racing fame. She's nothing flashy or fancy... just a nice little driver. I had to take some pics for insurance, and kinda got carried away. Pics were taken at the now defunct Lemp Brewery in St. Louis, MO.

  7. And I quote: "She's nothing flashy or fancy... just a nice little driver."

I speak for most of us, that we would cut off our left testical for this "driver"

What a find. Keep it just like you found it. 40 coupes are the cars to put in your will to me. Is that Cloud Mist Gray or a darker green? Bruce Meyer here in LA has a similar car that he has owned for years. Always a crowd pleaser.

Thats fricking sweet , can you tell me a ball park price for that....
I'm looking at one (not as nice)been wanting one forever and don't want the guy to see it on my face ,because the price might go up!
But just wondering about the cost...

Thanks for all the nice complements. I don't plan to do anything to the car except a little interior detailing and paint work...and need to hook up the old Sun Tach (still 6volt!) I bought it to have a driver while my 36 coupe is tore apart, but I have a feeling that it is going to do nothing but put the 36 on the back burner a little further, since I'm having so much fun driving it. :)

    Few details:
    1940 Flathead w/ Mallory Ign.
    Offy heads and intake w/ 2 97's
Fenton headers w/ full stainless exh.
    80's ford 4spd Top loader
Open drive to the orig Banjo
    15" Merc wheels
    4" drop axle
    Sway bars front and rear
    Louvered hood
Old lacquer paint w/ "real" Patina :)

    Kool purchase!
Looks subtly bitch'n, I dig the louvers and sneaky dump pipes peeping out behind the front wheels.
Is the tach. from the original build?
    Very tasty.

Seeing coupes like that make me think about getting rid of the flames and flashy stuff on my coupe...

I would give both of my testicles for a 40 that nice,as long as I had a nice 40 like that to drive I would not care if my parts worked. Jeff

I bought my 56 Chevy Handyman Wagon from Cecil Yother. Mine isn't near as nice cosmetically as your 40 but it is great driver. Your coupe looks like it is going to be a fun car.
