Had a lady call me back around Christmas and ask me if I was interested in buying a couple of old pickups. She said they Chevrolets but didn't know what year they were. She told me That he Dad and Uncle farmed together. They went to town together and both bought new trucks together. They were just alike other than one was red and the other was green. Equipped just alike. Any way back to the phone call. She told me they were put in the barn back in the 80s and never touched since. Since I live in southwest Montana and the trucks were located in Northeast Montana. It was a 600 mile drive and I hadn't thought much more about it until yesterday when I had to come to the town where they were located. On the way I thought I should look up these trucks. I found her name and number that I had kept in my brief case and gave her a call to get the exact location. Its rained hard for the last 2 days and the farm was located back a 1/4 mile driveway that hasn't had gravel for ever and I had to put my pickup in 4 wheel drive just to get down to the barn where they were located. I still didn't know what to expect other than a couple of old beat up pickups that I was sure they would be 3/4 or 1 tons with a flat bed. Man was I surprised! I had to move some crap to get the sliding door open which hadn't been opened for years. Here I found 2 1966 Chevrolet half ton pickups in incredible condition! Both equipped the same with 6 cyl, 4-speed and radio delete. One Red and One Green! With ZERO Rust and untouched for 40 years. I think both trucks will clean up well and buff out very nice. We shall see once I get them out and hauled home.

Omg. What a find. Good for you. That’s a lot of running back and forth getting them home. They both look to be able to drive home on their own.

Some might say you should buy a lottery ticket. I'm saying you already scored a big win!

^Love how the dealer screwed his emblem right to the hood! Smart, tailgates could be replaced.

Those guys really took care of the trucks. The green one is what my '63 must have looked like before it rusted into oblivion.

That’s one hell of a find!! My dad had a ‘66 when I was little but his was black with a white top and I remember him building a 327 in the back of the truck that he put into it with side pipes circa 1973ish. Thanks for bringing up the memories and I can’t wait to see them cleaned up :)

Going to keep the Red one for sure and maybe the green one for a while. Got to get them home first. Its a two day run just for one. There is a 1967 Chevy 2 ton with grain bed (Also Very nice with 36,000 miles also For Sale) that also been sitting since the 80s that will need to be pulled out first to get them out.

Bet they have the standard gold(ish) colored seats and painted interior steel panels. Can't believe I'm getting nostalgic about these things. Also, I must suspend my disbelief that they aren't $500 trucks anymore. Northeast road salt devoured so many as they plodded along.

The lady owner called me back and ask me what I thought of the Pontiac. I said What Pontiac? She said there is a Pontiac sitting behind the yellow house. ( There are 3 houses on the farm none of which have been lived in for years) So soon as I check out of the motel I am going back out and investigating. She is retired and said she was sure the Pontiac is older than her. I will post pictures later of it.

Nice score but I thought the cutoff date for this forum was 1965?

    Wow.
    Have a real good day.
I think you're going to. LOL

I also think a '66 is the same as a '65, so it gets a pass.

They’re also the same as 64’s. 66 the only year I could never find. I love the green one!

OMG! I have been on here for several years and didn't know there was a cutoff!!!! So Sorry!!!! Next thing You know I will be sitting in court across from Stormy Daniels telling how she met me at the Putt Putt Golf Course and how she then met me at the Wont Tell Motel and how I answered the door with my Flintstones PJs on.

Careful, politics will get this shut down faster than anything.

Great score on the trucks! Can't wait to hear about the Pontiac.

Congratulations, unbelievably lucky to find two in that condition, barn dust and vintage air still in the tires:) had a 66 as my first truck so I have a soft spot for em. One thing I see that really drives me insane is the dealer put his logo on the leading edge of the hood:eek: that’s a real dick move

Great find! Next time you're out there we need pics of everything - the Pontiac, the grain truck, more pics of the pickups. Love stories like this!

Why point out what they aren't?
These are two excellent vintage pickup trucks in super duper condition. More like super dupercalifragilisticexpialidocious condition.

    I had a red '66 shortbed. Wish I still had it. :(

Yes.....let's see pictures of the 2 ton. I have actually been looking for a 2 ton of that vintage. I bought a 1961 in N. Dakota, but was more work than I was able to do.
