Looks like a very affordable and "old school" fuel cell going on in that engine compartment.....:p

I especially like the blue gas tank in the engine compartment.

Pulled the tank last night- it's junk. Gotta get a good used or new one. Also ordered all new brake parts for it. Hopefully in a week or 2 she will run and drive under her own power

Local friend of mine had a nice used gas tank so I picked that up from him. All my brake parts are showing up, so with luck I will be driving it in the next week or 2!

The new convert is awesome! I really like that color. Can't wait to see the fam cruising down the road in it! I could totally see a vintage camper trailer be pulled behind it.

So I've been working on the ol sled as much as I can. having the gas tank boiled out right now, and going through the brakes. I hate doing brakes, such a dirty job. But I got everything off and all cleaned. Just need to clean out the metal lines and install all the new stuff. I ordered new tires as well...firestone 7.10 15's which showed up yesterday. Painting the rims before mounting them.

One downfall is I'm pretty sure the fuel pump lobe on the cam is flat. The mechanical pump was byp***ed when I bought it and it had an electric pump mounted under the car (which is junk....diaphram melted). I hate electric pumps...I just don't trust them. The fuel pump push rod moves up and down, just not enough to pump the pump. So I may modify the rod to lenghten it a little and see if that works. If not, I will install a new electric pump on it and use it until I have time to pull the engine and swap cams. I am trying to get this car on the road for our E vs W flathead run in Sept.

I also got rod of the horribly ugly 80's under dash gauges and panel in favor for this old engine turned panel and SW gauges. Looks a ton better

And finally loaded up the parts car that came with the convertible. It's a 54 but has a few items I need. I am probably going to part it out, if anyone needs anything PM me

Chris, that '54 looks too good to part out. That's how I got my cabrio body (which is now in the cl***ifieds). Did I send you this pic? Tim 032.JPG

Wow Tim, that is a good looking roadster...did you buy it?

I would certainly like to sell this car whole but the reality is no one around here will probably want it. Plus I'm taking some parts off of it. But we shall see. I just want to take what I need and get rid of it.

Unless the p***enger side is gone, where I come from that's way more than a parts car.

Nope, not for sale. Neither is His '33 phaeton, '33 vicki or the other four or five cool projects. Old friend of mine. They're safe.

No, it's not bad. I just do not think they are very popular around here. But I am going to try to sell it whole first. Has a clean ***le, too

That's a lot nicer than the one I bought in 1962, someone should see the value of your 54 and swoop on it. Great starter car.

  18. No kidding. My BIL would love to find something like that closer to home. Everything around here is toast.

You guys can go ahead and jump on it. 1000.00 would buy it minus the few parts I need

Well, I drove it for the first time yesterday! I still need to run a new gas line from the tank to the carb, but with the help of a boat tank I drove it a couple miles. Drives pretty nice. Front end needs rebuilt and one rear brake locks up when you brake...but otherwise runs and drives well.

I got new tires on freshly painted wheels. I also put 2" lowering blocks in the back...but it looks like I need to lower it another 3-4"

Put the shackles back where they belong and you will drop the rear.

Yes they are, flip them back as they belong and you will have a tail dragger just like you want. ;)

I believe those shackles do need to be flipped. I don't think Ford would have left the springs and shackle quite that visible. ;) Check your parts car to be sure.

That is a great ride! One of the few 'affordable' convertibles of the '50s. You've already done some nice touches to it.

HAHA! I feel like an idiot :) I bet they swung down when I put the lowering blocks in...I thought it seemed lower BEFORE I put the blocks in but figured it was all in my head. I will mess with that this weekend and see what happens. Thanks guys! Simple things.....
