'50 Chevy Deluxe Coupe...picked it up for a great price, pretty clean, runs & drives good, pretty well cared for and kept up with, lake pipes, flamethrowers, couple other goodies and already 12v converted! Has an older Macco paintjob that is thinning out pretty bad and some minor surface rust in a couple areas so im gonna do some quick bodywork and a homemade paint job...opinions? Getting ready to do some minor bodywork, satin black the bottom half, (probably gonna left the top white cause i like the two-tone scheme) ditch the wire wheels for seafoam green steelies and some matching pinstripe in a couple accent areas and im done. Gonna be the summer cruiser.
p.s. - anyone got some steelies and wide whites for sale near chicago that will fit it? i have cash in hand!
Excellent score!! Hows the interior? Your plan sounds great- post pix as you go. And let me know if you are going to ditch the visor, my '51 needs some shade! For that matter, what kind of shape are the wire wheels in? (smoke starts to rise as the gears in my head start to turn)!
yeah i agree. good looking car for a summer croozer. should be alot of fun.... and double check the****le/vin coz thats a 49 grill. either way who cares. its all about driving them anyways, right?
vin tag and****le are both original and match fully, it is a '50 but i think he replaced it years back, all the stainless/chrome trim on the exterior of the car was sent out and reconditioned for the most part, i have the other door trim and some extra deluxe badges and such, interior is clean but needs some tlc such as new door panels which came with the car, both seats are in decent shape but he bought some custom seat covers from some guy that goes by the name "voodoo" or something like that? but they looks and fit great, super clean underside, brand new fenderwelt strips for the skirts, all glass is good besides one rear 1/4 window has a hairline crack. engine was rebuilt over the winter, trans got a new clutch, throwout bearing, pressure plate last summer, rebuilt carb, has an oem replacement aluminum radiator...these are things i know as i kinda know the guy who did it all. trunk full of extra parts, springs, suspension stuff and interior parts, spare water pump and more i have yet to get to...rained alllll day today all and all there is some light surface rust here and there, some light bubbling in the rear quarters that im gonna sand down and little stuff like that. the wire wheels are in decent shape i would say, they have some rust on the spokes but the tires are decent, i would let them go cheap, they are true knockoffs, 14's i think.
nice find! How about satin blue and keep the top white?Looks like it had a good life in the blue already.
Nice. What bolt pattern are the wheels? I think once you lose the visor and the lowrider wheels it's halfway there.
Could have been an early September car, or a late August '49 they****led as a '50. It happens. Nice ride none the less. I'd definitely toss the headlight eyebrows though. Satin blue would be my color. That's my 2 cents, and I only have 5...
That's a composite of several cars. Basic body was a Styline Special, not a DeLuxe (no bright metal around w/s or over the side glass). Hard to tell by the pics, but it also looks like it's a 2 door sedan, not a coupe. Got any full side, dash, or rear pics ?
ive got these pics from the guy before i headed out to pick it up, it was raining the day i picked it up so i snapped the ones posted in the original with my phone. hey, any help on this car and info you guys can give, im all for it, i appreciate the knowledge that is floating around on this site.
thanks, also can anyone school me on some updating of this car, like front disc brake conversions? (easiest route, even if not the best way to do it please) and upgrading brake booster/master to the firewall and such? what pedal****embly to use and all that if it has been done. cheaper routes the better, im not gonna be doing 100mph or hitting the highway in the car or anything! thanks
