Cool site here. I've been reading all these interesting posts for a few months now. I got registered last week but just now am getting around to posting. I've been waiting for the kids to help me get an avatar and post this picture of one of my cars. My driver is also a '55 hardtop that I have been driving for 20 years now with 100,000 plus miles since I built it in the mid '80's. You can see it at my website at www.mrchevynut.com I also have a '65 chevelle convertible that has been patiently waiting for rodding/customizing. I can't say restoration because I don't make them factory. Anyway, Hello from southwest Illinois and I'll be chatin' with y'all down the road. Larry
Hey Chevy G***er good to see you here. I was at the auction the day you bought Mr. Chevy. What a great car, some of the water spots you had to clean off were probably from me drooling on it . It's good to see it all cleaned up. Will you have it out anywhere this summer would love to see it in person again. What a great piece of drag racing history!
Hey Larry I had a chance to see your web site.......great history on Mr. Chevy plus the Hurst shifting glove and the coke bottle story were too cool!
Small world. I'm working on putting it back just the way it was the last day it ran up at E. St. Louis, I am even going to leave the same tires on it as long as they hold air. It is cleaning up pretty good too. I'm hoping to get the driveshaft back from the platers this week. I had the motor running only one day late October. Dale Haverstick wanted me to bring it to the Chevy Shed open house but it wasn't ready yet. Yes, I'm planning to have it done in a month or so and get it out to be seen. I guess the first big show I want to take it to is the Easter Show at Forrest Park in St. Louis. Another place I want to take it this summer is Goodguys Indy. Anyway, next time you see it stop and say Hi, there are some interesting stories about the damage from the last day it was out.
