Thanks Leadsledmerc,I agree we all get caught up in the moment, thanks for the light hearted reply.I meant well for everyone, but obviously he doesn't get it by his reply
how about both of you get off my back!! yes i have had metel taken out of my eye with a goddamn drill!! but thats just how it happens some times when you get caught up in a project... so how bout we keep this about the car show and not my lack of safety concerns, or my bad example to young hotrodders.. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one more thing before i shut this thing off for the night.. i just spent about 300 bucks and my entire weekend busting my balls working on that truck for free just to demonstrate top chopping , bed shortening etc.. so young future hotrodders can see whats involved.. so get off my ass about the glasses!!! thank you
Dave, You and the other guys did a kick ass job at the show this weekend. When I was there Saturday, I couldn't beleive how many people were watching the chop. Thanks I'm hoping some one has some pics from last night or today so we can see how the p/u finished up. I never did get to see what you did with the bed. Any more pics out there???? LSM
My opinion on the show is,yes there were lots of great cars, but, the only way to compete is with lots of money,it's a pissing contest, and the little guy never wins.
When this picture was taken in Louieville it still belonged to the guy I sold it to after finishing the build and driving it for about 3 years ( Glen Baugus ) in Missouri. After buying it from the guy that Krylon 32 sold it to I brought it back to Nebraska drove it as a very cool black primer hotrod for a year and then had Cornhusker Rod/Custom build a whole new chassis for the complete re-build I had in mind, which is what you see here. The original 32 chassis that was under it when I bought it now resides under my 28 roadster with somewhere around 50-60,000 miles on it. Them boys at Cornhusker build em to last. Gary
Thanks for the pic's, looks like a pretty good show, lots of real hot rods. Not like the lame ass show the WOWheels puts on in Feb here in Baltimore. I go down on set up night with some of the fella's and get in for free and get a look around. Then we usually go down to Little Italy and grab a bite to eat. Just an excuse to get out and do something on a winter night......
I think it's very cool what you guys did .I wish I could have seen you do the work.Hope someone posts good pics! When I was there Sat.AM there was just a couple of the guys hanging out looking bored and tired of the friggin' tuner rap next to them.Where were the Alter Boys?
I agree they suck the fun out of the hobbie,I mean I didnt do bad, still 3rd in class and best paint and engine, but,Its still about who has the most money in their cars that wins big.
Theres a saw coming up in Hartford soon, its not as big as WOW but usually not too bad, Anyone going to that? JimV
"they" only suck the fun out if you let them. Now that you know what its about, quit your whining...please.
Yeah- the show had real quality this year- minimal tuners and great rides. Here are some more pics. Dave,Eli ,Tony ,Chuck and assorted other randy characters did a nice job on the chop. Gots us some video too.... http://www.chop-shopcustoms.com/wow07/DSCN0181.MOV (Thought Id throw these in too...they are all the rides ChopShop (Lenny) worked on for paint &stuff- all got Best in Class and specialty awards-cool-didnt lust for the awards but damn proud of being recognized) Know they arent all HAMB material but I am really proud of him and just want to tell the world! Sometimes I act like the girlie wife..
Yeah, I've had to have that done twice, and I was wearing safety glasses both times! NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE! Especially when they're done digging it out and they have to polish/grind the surface of your cornea with a diamond point on a little dremel type thing. "hold still!" yeeouch... Cool pics, though!
cool. We will be there with the RC truck. This is its last trip in the Boston area ... Its going to the owners after Rhinebeck. I hope they are happy with it.
The optometrist told me "you big guys always squirm. little girls sit still for this all the time." Apparently we're all metal grinding, no glasses wearing sissies.
Al, nice to see you, great shots of my car. Thanks to the previous owners of my 32 Sedan. We really enjoyed driving the car all over Northeast FL in November and have done some minor tweeking here and there since we have had it. Hats off to both Dick Royer and the Weather Man for making this a painless weekend.
Careful Ralphy, you'll shoot your eye out! Hey, it's Dave's eye, he can lose it if he wants to! Ha Ha Ha
ain't it the truth - well said keith!! hotrod's are for driving first and looking at second - f*** the trophys i can't say it any plainer than that!! mike
ok I dont really know what I started here, and I dont want anyone to think, that I didnt have fun,I had tons of fun.But I didnt want the trophie for myself, but more for my fathers shop,he and I put in tons of work to make my roadster look as good as it does,so please dont anyone think that thats all I cared about, winning tropies.
John, Your father doesn't need a wall full of trophies. Everyone allready knows what great work he does. Just look at some of the cars that he has built.
