PICS HOW TO, AGAIN

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by Groucho, Aug 11, 2004.

  1. I need absolute dummy proof instructions to post pics of on going projects or things for sale. I mean real simple **** or i'm not going to get it. Someone HAS to have a simple method. I have no prob on ebay or email, but the HAMB, forget it.

    1. Find some free photo hosting that allows remote links.
    Try cardomain.com

2, load your pictures on the free site from your computer.

3, go to the free site and click on the picture with the right mouse ****on. A pop-up will come up.scroll down and select "PROPERTIESS"

4, Hi-light the portion next to "address (URL)" (hold your left mouse ****on down as and scroll across the address)

5, with the address hi-lighted, click the right mouse ****on . A pop-up will come up. select "COPY"

6, In your post, select the box on the top right hand side of "Instant UBB Code" that says "Image".

7, A pop-up will appear that says "script prompt". With your cursor In the hi-lighted portion, click the Right mouse ****on.

    8, a pop-up will appear, select "PASTE"

9, make sure you don't duplicate "http://" though...

    hope that was simple enough.

  4. You lost me at hello. I don't even know how to put pics in my computer. When i do email or ebay, i get pics direct from camera via USB cord. Thanks for your effort, but i'm as dumb as i claim with computers.

  5. PS-i sure don't get it why the simple way that works for email or ebay won't work here. What's that about?

Groucho, when you get the pics from your camera do you save them to a file on your computer?

    Nick

  9. Nick32vic-i don't save anything. i don't know how if i wanted to. i just go straight from the camera to ebay or email, then delete it from my camera. it works fine, but the hamb is way outside my thought capabilities!!!

Well the only way i know how to get pics on the hamb is a way that you have to save the pics on your computer first. if you do that then i can give you some instructions how to post the pics. But if you dont have the pictures on your computer i cant help you much.

  11. Hey, thanks for trying. I appreciate it. I told Ryan that the Hamb was one of the slowest things around until he changed something a while back. Now it's the fastest thing on my computer. Hopefully a future upgrade will solve my dilema.

From one dummy to another. I had that POS windows ME on my old computer and you had to jump through hoops like a trained circus monkey to download pictures. Now I have XP home version, same camera, and I just plug it in to the usb cable, turn it on and it goes right to an almost idiot proof download. And will do it right over the top of anything else that is running. It will automatically put them in a My Pictures file that is a subfile of My Do***ents. Then when you are posting on a thread and you get to the first page after you enter it there is a box that you can click ( actually unclick if you don't want it) to review post, attach file. Leave the check in the box and hit continue and on the next page before you submit there is a place for attachments. With my system I just hit browse and it will open a list of the files in "MY do***ents" I click "My Pictures" and scroll through all those files until I find the picture or file I want, click on it and it opens then you can click on the picture you want, hit open and it is is loaded to the post.
Also alot of the pictures I save from ebay ect. don't go to the my pictures file but just to the My Do***ents. My pictures is mostly from the camera but you can save other images there too by putting them there.
I know this sounds complicated but trust me if I can do it anyone can. I do have to admit that XP made it a bunch easier that Millenium. My advice to anyone with ME or 2000 is to ****can it and get 98 or XP
If you have a printer you might just want to print this so it is easier to read as you try to walk through it. Hope this helps

As mentioned before just right click on the picture and go to properties. Click and drag to highlight the URL. Then right click and "copy". Then in post reply click on the "Image" icon and "paste" the address in the box. Done!
I have ME and hate it but it works better lately since I got rid of my BlackIce firewall.
