Hi I´ve bought a new project that is still in hold but of course I´m building it in my mind and collecting ideas. The frame is done long way sporting Diego drop axle, 46 brakes in every corner, ´32 K-member, no Z-jobs in frame, 16 in Kelseys. Body is a bit rusty but complete with fenders and all. It will have Flathead, 3-speed, and original type closed drive. My concern is what to do with the body? Chop or not. Does it look right in "Bluey" style without fenders and unchanneled. I think I´ll stick with the original grille. Also can think of running it with full fenders. I just can´t find any pics of unchanneled fenderless coupes with or without a chop. And I don´t have any pic of the actual project for doing a photoshop chop. So any pics that would fit in this "old" style concept would help. Thanks in advance
LOUDpipes - Hi, i have borrowed this pics from someone i can´t remember though. Go for a chop + channel and skip the fenders...
I think you got the right ideas going... go fenderless and unchanneled, with the flattie and early parts it will look great Of the two pics above, I prefer the look of the unchanneled coupe....
That's mine... all '29, un-chopped and un-channeled. However, it does have steel frame covers below the body sides that sorta mimic the look of deuce rails. I'm real tempted to chop it but don't plan to channel it. Here's a different pic.
Thanks 62buford. When wiewing the first pics I wondered why the frame looked like something between A and ´32. I´ve been going through old American Rodders and DRD57 site and it really seems that the A rails are always disquised in some way be it pipes, channel job or steel covers. I do remember one 30 coupe with pinstripe flames that had the rails plain visible in some old AR but still haven´t found that issue. Anyway your coupe looks******in and I would hesitate more than twice to cut that roof. The cloth top matches the black suede paint really well. Cool ride.
By the way a lot of the green coupe on deuce rails was built by the same guy I bought my coupe project! Deuce rails would be the way to go but as I mentioned so much has already been done to the A frame I think I´ll stick with it.
LOUDpipes, is there any chance that you can find out how much the green coupe has been chopped. That car has been the inspiration fot the stance for mine since I first saw it. Here's a pic of mine so far.
You also have to think if your height would be a factor in it, if you were say going to do a 4" chop and a 3" channel and you were 6'4" then you might have a problem but, if you were 5'6" then you would be ok. Its just something to consider
Stovebolt I´ve done an article on that car fo a Finnish mag and according to info I was given the chop was 5 inches. I have a lot of slides of that and similar A coupes on deuce rails but unfortunatelly no way to scan them. Yours will be an unique one. Cool
As I have been going thru the mags, pics and anything else i can find to decide whether to go fendero or fenderless on my 29 sedan, I noticed that there are not alot of fenderless cars on A frames (that are not channeled).. and the ones that are almost all seem to be 4 bar front and back (with long brackets off the frame).. Finding one with hairpins is tough, and only a few with splits... Is there a reason why?
Uh, I wasn't even paying attention...it was on A-rails that was asked for...then disregard my pix above!
Rolf, I am glad you posted it, Its a nice looking project... Here is a sedan (no coupe pic) on what appears to be A rails.
Finally found the only pic of the actual patient that is waiting for the possible surgery. I´ve not seen this one yet in flesh. I bought it according this pic and info I was given.
