I was at a swap today in sunny Columbus, Ohio:rolleyes: and found a couple of things. First was a guy selling a TON of old 50/60s rod mags. You've all seen guys like this before. I've just never seen one selling them for $2 a piece. I scored about 20, among them were issues #1 and #2 of Custom Rodder 1957. Those are especially cool to me, because that magazine was originally designed to represent the East coast. My project is going to be East coast in looks.

Anyway, for the real kicker. The swap is an all Ford swap, mostly Mustangs, early and late, but I went in the hopes of finding some tin for my Model A. I come across an old guy with loads of Mustang parts but has a decent looking aluminum air cleaner. It's stamped Nicson and looks really cool. He wanted $100 for it, which I will probably get flamed for admitting to paying, but it looks traditional. It's going to sit on top of a 53 Olds 303 four barrel and probably saved me big $$$ chasing down three deuces and carbs. The project is an open hood 29 Model A roadster. Even if it's worth $30, now I feel good about running the factory 4 barrel.

Cool. I think Nicson mostly specialized in marine parts, and parts to put auto engines in boats, so it's probably a flame arrestor too.

More accurately called a flame arrestor for marine applications. I love 'em. They are very period because they were made for the old 4 bbl carbs of the day before AFBs and Holleys ever came along. I believe 100 bucks is the going price for them even though they are pretty rare.

Has any one else noticed that Tommy has not one but two of everything. Very cool air cleaner. Even cooler on the dual four set up.
